John Bolton to Newsmax: 'We Don't Need Trump's Baggage'

Former National Security Adviser and U.N. Ambassador John Bolton told Newsmax on Wednesday that he hasn't made a decision yet about whether to enter the race for the Republican nomination, but he believes the Republican Party should focus on someone other than his former boss, Donald Trump.

"I think it's very important that the Republican Party move beyond Donald Trump," Bolton said while appearing on "John Bachman Now." "History is going to take us beyond Trump one way or the other. If we make him our nominee, we will lose the 2024 election. We could lose both Houses of Congress, and we could lose control of the Supreme Court if the Democrat is elected and and fills any vacancies that occur.

"The stakes are too high here," he added. "We don't need Trump's baggage, and I want to see if other contenders for the nomination make that point effectively. And I also want to see that they raise issues to the level they should be in this campaign."

Regarding the criminal charges against former President Trump over his alleged handling of classified documents found at his Florida residence, Bolton said, "I think the most important thing that could happen, if it were possible, would be to ask every American to read the indictment against Trump. Read all 40-plus pages. If I or any other executive- branch officials were charged with the things that he has done in there, I think we probably would be in jail already."

Bolton continued that the former president "is entitled to the presumption of innocence. He is entitled to all due process at trial, and the prosecution has to prove those allegations beyond a reasonable doubt. That's a very heavy burden,

Bolton helped in creating that FAKE baggage.

Traitors must swing.

She hasn’t been a mayor or a governor. She hasn’t held a
top CEO position of a large corporation. She has no foreign
policy experience.

Not trying to be hard on her. I like other people too, but
I don’t let that suffice for these types of prerequisites.

One problem with mentioning a failed president’s status,
is that it is not supportive of another person with nearly
the same lateral experience. Obama proves why. So does
Biden. So does Harris.

She’s not a Biden or Harris, but she isn’t presidential
material. It’s one thing to think like us for a cycle or
two, but it’s another to have the sly tricks up their
sleeve to get their agenda passed.

I can see the qualities that get you to support her, but
I’m just not there.

You don't need any of that to be a VP. That's why VP have expert lawyers for legal advice, expert economic and business advisors, as well as expert foreign advisors.

A president can't be all these things, and that why they have staffs, advisors etc...

No way Lake is VP material. The VP must be ready to be president at any moment. And in the unlikely event Trump gets the nomination, she wouldn’t help him at all. She’d be much like Palin who at least had experience as a governor. Nah, Trump’s as likely to pick her as he is his friend Cuomo.

What? Lake was what a newsreader on TV before her failed run for governor? I absolutely don't like Harris but lets be honest, she's got a bit more experience.

At this point Lake should run for a house or senate seat. Win something, get some legislative experience.

Always an excuse...

If nothing matters then Harris is your kind of girl.

She worked in the news biz for 23 years in the private sector. One need not be a career government stooge to run and win.

Trump was never elected to anything, yet broadsided an entire short bus full of career professional class lawyer politicians. Great stuff. Historic.

You’re comparing Kamala Harris to Lake?

How about another backstabber like Pence. He’s got lots of experience, right?

My comment about Harris was off base, but you are living a
few decades in the past.

Trump’s own Congress wouldn’t support him. Everyone acts
like he may poor appointments. If he had appointed from the
Republican Congress they would have had very little better
record of supporting him, or remaining loyal after they
left the White House.

Your answer for Lake being challenged based on experience
is to suggest advisors could handle it.

No, you need to have a very solid core. You have to have
a firm grasp on what has taken place in international
circles.

I actually like Lake. That does not mean she’s ready for
prime time.

Vice Presidents learn very little in the position. They
are all but invisible and worthless for that term in
the second seat.

The Republican's conspired to undermine Trump.

Bolton was one of Trump’s worst mistakes. A lying and cowardly warmonger. He can go straight to hell.

That's hilarious. Our foreign policies and been an utter disaster for 40+ years. All produced and directed by those with lots of experience. Career politicians in fact. And all we've won were death, debt and decline.... Solid core....lol

Trump is all the reason we need to see that our president and vice president need real experience, legislative experience would be good. Trump claimed business experience, I trusted that and supported him. What we found instead was that he picked bad people repeatedly, he relied on fleeting EO dictates instead of negotiating and securing lasting legislation, and he showed himself to be a narcisistic drama queen sharing, giving, and getting no loyalty from his staff, the senate, or house.

And Lake, her claim to fame is losing a fraudulent election. She has no management experience, no legislative experience, no business experience. She was a newsreader.

We don't need either. The country cannot afford another four years of Trump, we cannot afford another inexperienced president, or ready-to-be-president vice-president. No way.

Maybe Lake will get there one day after winning office, getting some experience. But not now, not in 2024.

We need successful governors like DeSantis and he might pick from among other successful Republican governors to be his VP. Today we've got a lot of good choices, mature, successful, non-drama queen choices.

The election is now about Trump, it is not owed to him. It is about and for the American people.

Trump kept us out of foreign entanglements. I do think there
was some fortunate actions by Kim that helped keep us there.
I wouldn’t bet on that happening again as China changes its
policies as well toward the U. S.

China seems to think it’s ready to take us on.

As much as we deride our current military status, I think
China may be biting off more than it can chew. We will
probably see in the not too distant future.

Lake has the one endearing quality that sets her apart from all the other candidates.
Lake loves our country.
I dodnt see that in any other candidate.
Just greed
