The decision by the Department of Justice to charge Hunter Biden for two mere misdemeanors for massive tax evasion linked to the foreign payoffs he took, and put him in a "diversion program" with dismissal likely for lying about his drug use and possible drug distribution activies on his gun ownership application drives home to most Americans that we have a two-tier justice system.
It's not just in striking contrast to the cascade of charges being leveled at President Trump on questionable matters as he seeks to re-run for office.
It's that any one of us, faced with the same charges at the same scale would be thrown into the slammer for the rest of our lives.
Writer Tom Knighton calls that a "slap in the face" to ordinary Americans, and writes on his substack:
Hunter Biden has apparently broken a number of laws. We know he’s broken them and he broke them repeatedly.
And it seems he’s now about to face charges for his crimes.
That’s the good news.
Unfortunately, that’s about all the good news. You see, Hunter’s getting the kind of deal that neither you nor I would be offered. He’ll likely never see a day in prison.
Writer Jonathan Tobin at Newsweek calls it "sweetheart deal," and all about the political protection for Joe Biden himself:
The worst part of all of this is the way the DOJ is protecting Biden. If such allegations were leveled against anyone else involved in the kind of criminality Hunter was routinely engaged in, the Department of Justice would be using them as leverage to get to the bottom of his family's questionable activities. Anyone else would be squeezed to reveal all about his shady dealings. Yet Hunter was simply... let off.
One set of laws for us. Another set for Hunter.

We simply have enemy government at this point in history. It has happened before.
Bills of Attainder are all the rage these days, what with the states and the feds leveling them at President Trump all the time.
WHen did it happen before joma89?
He should be brought before Congress to testify immediately.
And when he takes the fifth, because apparently he is still under “investigation” (the excuse for the Just-Us department continuing to not cooperate) this are the words he should hear...
“This is your lucky day Mr. Biden. We are granting you full and complete immunity for your honest and comprehensive testimony.”
You see I don’t give a crap about the crackhead going to jail. I want to hear him forced to spill the beans.
“This phony justice cries out for at least some kind of Republican statement-action now.”
Sternly worded letters to follow.
And then nothing.

And the Dem talking points are that Conservatives are being mean and hateful for going after someone with addiction problems. Nope, I’m not kidding.
Yes, a “Justice Correction Act” that adjusts all sentencing to what more-equal-than-equal people, like the Biden family, Clintons, and others get. Fair is fair.
Hunter Biden’s skating act cries out for Republican action now.
Let us throw “Hunter Biden justice” straight into Joe Biden’s grinning fool face.
Foolish Joe Biden is sure Hunter is going to skate without consequences.
(a) taxpayers demand Congress pass a “corrective bill”
(b) reduce all penalties for tax fraud and gun application violations to Hunter Biden’s level
(c) release from jail anyone unjustly convicted of such crimes
(d) enshrine the “Hunter Biden Two-Tier Justice Correction Act” into US law.

“We are granting you full and complete immunity for your honest and comprehensive testimony.”
Republicans will do nothing. They will posture and try to use it as a campaign tool, but that’s as far as it will go.
All politicians are dirty, holding a member of the club accountable in any way is asking to be outed for your own bad deeds.
Ms Showalter is a fav.
Lots of excellent comments at the original article.
The Bidens are all criminals and should be thrown in jail for a while. That they won’t be speaks volumes about the slimy DOJ.
The Republican needs to incorporate this corrupt government into their campaigns in a way real people can relate.
“Have you ever been screwed over by the government”? Us too, and here’s what we will do to fix it for you.
“how to throw the Hunter Biden outcome into Joe’s face”
Her answer, near the end of the article, is something like this:
“Reduce all penalties for anyone committing Hunter’s crimes to Hunter’s level, and see how that plays out with the voters.”
I just sent a version of that to my sleazy, lying, worthless demonrat representative.
Let’s see if Silvia Garcia even responds
