The CIA Is Begging Congress to Please Keep Spying on U.S. Citizens Legal

High-level officials from the CIA, FBI, and NSA are testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee today, asking Congress to continue allowing the agency to spy on the communications of US citizens. They are urging Congress to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA)—one of the nation’s most hotly contested government surveillance programs. Intelligence agencies have long cited the powerful 2008 FISA provision as an invaluable tool to effectively combat global terrorism, but critics, including an increasing number of lawmakers from both parties, say those same agencies have morphed the provision into an unchecked, warrantless domestic spying tool. The provision is set to expire at the end of this year.

Federal agents urged lawmakers to reauthorize 702 without adding new reforms that could potentially slow down or impair operators’ access to intelligence. The officials danced around advocates’ concerns of civil liberty violations and instead chose to focus on a wide array of purported national security threats they say could become reality without the “model piece of legislation.” Multiple intelligence agents speaking Tuesday invoked the specter of September 11th and warned lawmakers new safeguards limiting agents’ ability to rapidly access and share intelligence on Americans could risk a repeat scenario.

The correct response to 9/11 was to revoke all visas for visitors including “students” from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Afghanistan for 6 months, to then round them up and send them home, and to allow a very few to return after 6 months and a full colonoscopy-level evaluation in their home countries.

The use of the term “terrorists” should never have been allowed to take hold, the correct term was “enemy soldiers”.

The incorrect response was to make my 90 year old frail Navy veteran father with a pacemaker/defibrillator take off his shirt in a public airport when leaving after a visit with his grandchildren in case he was a “terrorist”.

Of course, as we now know, it wasn’t about “terrorists” - it was about the real enemy - that would be us.

FINALLY someone else gets it. 9/11 was an immigration policy and law problem. That was the root of the national security problem. Nothing has been done about except blowing trillions and fighting forever wars. And look at the southern border today. Look at how we handle refugees, 80+k from Afghanistan and no a single background check. (Look at that squirrel over there —-> 🐿️)

Well, if I recall correctly the FBI was warned about Arabs wanting training to only fly and not take off and land.

This coming from training schools who figured correctly that is quite a warning shot.

FBI ignored it.

The FBI can stick that FISA crap right up their ass.

If they revoke/do not renew this law that means the CIA agents who post the pro-ukraine propaganda here will be out of the job

If they don’t get what they want there will be false flags until they get what they want.

By the way, Wray did not full comply with the subpoena for the FD-1023 form. Congress does not have possession and the document was never fully redacted even though it was not classified.

FISA was weaponized against Republicans for the political desires of abusive judges and agents. This is a thick red line that absolutely requires a no vote in full. Not amended, not conditional, just denied in totality. Any politician that votes for it is my enemy not just my opponent.

On one condition.

Make it legal for any American citizen to use whatever surveillance methods they can get to monitor the CIA, FBI and the rest of the alphabet FedMobsters.

Harry Browne and Ron Paul warned us about that even as the Patriot Act was being passed.

Hmmmm...with all the spying they do on Americans, I wonder why they haven’t identified the Trantifa terrorists making mass bomb threats against Target stores...
