“mishandling of classified documents”
That’s NOT the charge
Who said this?
“As the head of the executive branch and Commander in Chief, I have
a unique, Constitutional responsibility to protect the Nation’s
classified information, including by controlling access to it.
More broadly, the issue of [a former executive branch official’s]
security clearance raises larger questions about the practice of
former officials maintaining access to our Nation’s most sensitive
secrets long after their time in Government has ended. Such access
is particularly inappropriate when former officials have transitioned
into highly partisan positions and seek to use real or perceived
access to sensitive information to validate their political attacks.
Any access granted to our Nation’s secrets should be in furtherance
of national, not personal, interests.”
" ... related to alleged mishandling of classified documents."
Imagine a person or president, who was in charge of the most secretive documents in the country, being indicted under the ‘espionage act’.
If Trump wanted to conduct some sort of espionage, he had the top position if the country from which to do it, with no questions asked or dared to be asked. That’s four years of uninhibited and unrestricted authority from which to do it.
And now, we are to believe that he put the country in some sort of danger under the espionage act?
Yeah, this is 1 million percent political, and those responsible for going after Trump for ridiculous reasons, are more dangerous than Trump could ever be, and they need to be gone after.
"The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America. "

CNN is reporting that Donald Trump has been assigned a PROBATION officer.
He wasn’t charged with possession or handling of classified documents under the Presidential Records Act. He was charged using a 106 year old law called The Espionage Act that was enacted in 1917.
Charged with felonies that under the US Constitution, he literally can’t be guilty of.
But someone is guilty of 37 felonies of federal election interference.
Boomerang.
Every defendant in a federal criminal case is assigned a pre-trial services officer. Standard practice.
“ Former President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to 37 charges related to alleged mishandling of classified documents.”
Leave it to CNN to get it wrong in the first sentence. None of the charges deal with mishandling classified documents. The first 31 charges deal with him possessing “national defense” information and refusing to return it when asked. Those are the Espionage Act charges, and they do not rely on the documents being classified. The other charges deal with obstruction and making false statements.
