Based on what I smell and see around town, I’d imagine that per capita weed use in San Francisco is about as high (no pun intended) here as anywhere in the country or the world. Cannabis-induced psychosis is a very real thing among some users, as they suffer paranoid delusions about radio waves being beamed into their brains, their thoughts being stolen by others, their food being poisoned, etc. And the figure of 1 in 4 of those suffering such psychosis becoming permanently mentally ill sounds about right based on my observations of the S.F. population.
Damn. They must be smoking that real good stuff. All crystal-encrusted and such.
My relatives who are schizophrenic today were self-medicating in high school with alcohol, pot and cigarettes. Cigarettes are still used relatives today, since cigarettes help decrease the stress of mental illness. Mental illness involved T-cell exhaustion and patients need rest, good nutrition, exercise and no smoking. It is a horrible disease.
