PBS: 'Sickening' GOP Calls Trump Indictment 'Selective Prosecution'

New York Times columnist and the supposedly conservative half of PBS NewsHour’s weekly Friday Brooks and Capehart panel was dismayed that even “supposedly mature and moderate” Republicans were decrying President Trump’s latest indictment as “selective prosecution.” Washington Post columnist and pinch hitter Ruth Marcus went even further, labelling it “sickening.”

Host Geoff Bennett led Brooks with an unrelated question about the trial being held in Florida which would mean the jury pool will be far less liberal than in New York City, “it's harder for him to make a convincing argument that he's being railroaded when it's happening in — on his home turf, as I said?”

Brooks pleaded ignorant, citing is lack of law school experience and turned the conversation back to the political reaction, “If you're running against Donald Trump for president, your job is to take this day and say, ‘see, that guy's not qualified to be president.’ That's like, simple.”

Unfortunately for Brooks that has not happened, “Does Ron DeSantis do that? No. Does Tim Scott do that? No. They're all — they're all jumping on the, it's prosecutive — it's weaponizing the justice system. They're jumping on that, Mike Lee in the Senate. Glenn Youngkin, the supposedly mature and moderate governor of Virginia, he was like ‘selective prosecution.’

Earlier in the show, Bennett had on law professor and former Bush official Jamil Jaffer who argued that it could be possible to compare Trump’s case to Hillary Clinton’s e-mail server. Nevertheless, Brooks continued lamenting about how “he's using this as a political gift, which, for the time being, it seems to be, at least in the Republican Party.”

Marcus then replied that Trump’s reaction was predictable, “But the really sickening thing is what you say about the rest of the party rallying around him.

Every time a democrat claims, “no one is above the law,” I wonder who raised them to lie with such conviction.

This is just one more setup which started with the Russia collusion nonsense and has kept going and going.

It has occurred to me after years of this never ending insanity...

The mistake President Trump made was not running for President as a Democrat. He would have stomped all over Hillary in the Primary and been able to change the trajectory of the Democrat party. They would be worshipping him as the greatest president ever.

President Trump has changed his party affiliation five times. In 1999 he left the Republican party and joined the Independence Party of New York. In 2001 he became a Democratic. Eight years later in 2009 Trump changed his party affiliation back to the Republican Party. In 2011 he became an Independent. In 2012 he returned to the Republican Party but described himself as a Nationalist. He could have easily avoided all the falderal by returning to the Democrat Party instead. A little pandering and the idiots on the Left would have fallen into place behind him.

The only problem with this would have been appointing conservative oriented judicial candidates. But if you look at the three most important, Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett they each are a bit milquetoast on the whole anyway because each were more the choice of the Uniparty than President Trump.

The Democrats infiltrated the Republican party long ago with people such as Romney, McCain, Lindsey Graham, Paul Ryan, etc. etc... It should have been the other way around. Unfortunately, at this point the Democrats have gone so bat shit crazy that it would be difficult to infiltrate them now. The time to change their direction was years ago before things went this badly. President Trump was the one who could have done it. I am sure he thinks of this daily. He joined the wrong group of political gangsters.

I agree with PBS in fact I agree with PBS so much that they’re probably right and that HRC, Joey Biden, and Trump and Kelly and everybody else (BHO) that has complete disregard for any security of classified material protocol should be hauled in and put through the same legal process... unfortunately that’s never going to happen. So PBS should STFU.

“Defund this propaganda outlet already!”

Federally subsidized PBS was started by the government to provide television drams and art programs the 3 major television networks would not provide. Essentially it was an entitlement program for elites and highbrow people who wanted to watch opera and talk shows where intellectuals pontificated.

In a world with hundreds of cable and streaming channels, plus niche content made specifically for streaming, PBS no longer has a reason for being. It is long past time for the government to stop funding a liberal propaganda organ and turn PBS loose from the federal teat by privatizing it in a public stock offering. Let the liberal elites buy the stock and run the company by selling advertising, subscriptions or whatever else they need to do to keep it running without being subsided by the taxpayers.

Sadly, from 2017- 2019 the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress and the White House. If the GOP Congress had passed a bill to privatize PBS, Trump would have signed it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately the Republicans, who cry about fiscal responsibility when Democrats are in the majority, can’t even end a long obsolete federally subsidized television network with a miniscule audience.

If they don’t like that they really aren’t going to like the prosecutorial abuse that goes with doctoring tapes.

Your tagline quotes the Psalms. Perhaps you could spend time in Proverbs.
3:29 Do not plot harm against your neighbor,
who lives trustfully near you.
30 Do not accuse anyone for no reason—
when they have done you no harm.

You have accused (DeSantis supporters?) of being "trans-Republicans" who delight in this selective prosecution of President Trump. Are you able to show reasons from (our) postings for such a smear?

I am not plotting anything.. how about you practice what you preach. You know accusing..

Do you know what a trans Republican is? A person who pretends to be something they are not. A person who considers them self to be of superior breeding.. a Nellie Olsen..

If I were to point out the bullying snobs for DEE-Saintis, I would be required to ping them.. you keep your own crew without sin, before you think you are holy enough to poke me in the eye.. rage on..

Total projection.

Brooks pleaded ignorant, citing is lack of law school experience and turned the conversation back to the political reaction...

His ignorance of the law is the excuse when it's actually part of the problem.

He may have had an opportunity to learn something and chose instead turn the conversation to his only safe zone - the fluidity of political discourse.

Even before the proliferation of niche cable channels, in the late 1980’s I noticed late night homosexual propaganda being broadcast on PBS television stations. And it was strong stuff, pushing everything from mandatory AIDS treatment and research funding to allowing everything destructive about this lifestyle. It was like a timewarp into the future.
