Russian military performance has been "mixed" in the last 48 hours of fighting, as there are an increasing number of reports of Russian casualties as they "withdraw through their own minefields," according to UK intel.
In an intelligence update on Saturday, the UK's Ministry of Defence outlined the progress that had been made on both sides of the conflict in Ukraine.
"In some areas, Ukrainian forces have likely made good progress and penetrated the first line of Russian defenses. In others, Ukrainian progress has been slower," Britain's MoD said in a statement.
"Russian performance has been mixed: some units are likely conducting credible maneuver defense operations while others have pulled back in some disorder, amid increased reports of Russian casualties as they withdraw through their own minefields," the ministry added.

Umm, armies do not plant minefields in their own rear.
And since the Russians were in defensive fortifications to begin with, and hadn’t ventured out past them...

Why would they have planted minefields...behind them?

NATO announced that all Russian troops have been killed by Ukrainian Freedom fighters for the second time. NATO is unsure what Russia is doing to supply additional troops since they have a been killed now for the second time. But Ukraine has asked the USA for more money in case the Russian troops need to be completely destroyed for the third time……..
Why is the war starting to sound like Catch 22 and their 1st Lt. Milo Minderbinder : What's good for M & M Enterprises will be good for the country…….

There are several east-west defense lines in this region. The intent is that when one line becomes untenable you withdraw to the next line through cleared lanes in the minefields in front of the next line and then seal those cleared lanes. If the minefields are not marked carefully or if the defenders are falling back in disorder, they could easily stumble into the minefields of the second line.
Also note that artillery delivered mines may not land where the firer expects or they may simply not be marked at all. Retreating troops can stumble into them by accident as well.

the defenders are falling back in disorder, they could easily stumble into the minefields of the second line. Most likely. The Russians are poorly trained and poorly led.

Maybe for the same reason the Soviet Army at Stalingrad had a line of soldiers behind the forward line to enforce their no retreat orders?
