U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has been assigned, at least for now, to oversee the case stemming from Donald Trump's indictment, a source confirmed to NPR on Friday.
Trump appointed Cannon to the bench in 2020, and she is the same judge who ruled in favor of Trump's request to appoint a special master to review documents seized by the FBI from Mar-a-Lago last summer, a move that temporarily stopped federal prosecutors from continuing their investigation into the documents.

Didn’t they try to sanction her or something the last time she was involved in the Mar-a-Lago document case? I think she was a mediator but was taken off the case in favor of a biased judge.
Since many of those judicial appointments were made through uni-party recommendations, I wouldn’t put too much faith in the judge’s impartiality.
She’s Trump’s ace in the hole. Has consistently ruled in his favor in the past. She was the one who appointed the special master. Although all the other courts overrode her so it might not amount to much.

Dems don’t want Trump convicted. They would have never brought this case in Miami if they wanted a slam dunk conviction.
What’s also troubling is that DJT also appointed Chris Wray as FBI director.
That this judge was appointed by Trump is, on it’s own, no great cause for rejoicing. So many of Trumps’ appointments have turned out to be RINOs or Timid Sheep waiting to be told what direction to take.
Kavanaugh and Barrett come to mind.
Judge Barrett certainly fooled me. Kavanaugh, I wasn’t too surprised about. He became the unlikely center of a partisan electoral storm just for that moment of his confirmation.
