Two men found guilty of defacing a Black Lives Matter mural in front of Santa Cruz City Hall back in 2021 are expected to be part of the repainting process later in June.

Brandon Bochat of Santa Cruz and Hagan Warner of Boulder Creek pleaded no contest and were made to spend 90 days in Santa Cruz County Jail, two years of probation, attend diversity and sensitivity training and pay $19,000 in restitution back in November.

It isn’t even a mural... It is painted block letters on a street.

They try to make it sound like a magnificent work of art.

Burn the US flag....no problem.

Tear down a statue....no problem.

Burn someone's property...no problem.

Threaten people...no problem.

Do this......

They sinned against St George of Fentanyl.

In other news, vandals have been destroying statues of St. Junípero Serra in California. The State's solution? No more statues of St. Junípero Serra.

Wow. That’s quite a sentence for ordinary guys leaving skid marks on the road.

“restorative justice” the humiliation is the point.

Welcome to South Africa. Glad I live in fairly unaffected areas. Its not going to get better for a long time.

I wonder if the people that did this in Santa Cruz were ever arrested and punished:

>>It is painted block letters on a street.

Was it DOT approved paint for a road surface?

Hazard to driving if not and a liability to the city since they approved/sanctioned it.

Cannot just roll paint onto a road surface.

Doesn’t sound like a felony charge/conviction. Most likely a misdemeanor.
