The Ukrainian military’s long-anticipated counteroffensive against occupying Russian forces has begun, opening a phase in the war aimed at restoring Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty and retaining Western support in the war. Ukraine’s troops intensified their attacks on the front line in the country’s southeast, according to four individuals in the country’s armed forces, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss the battlefield developments.

I’m waiting for you to post that Ukraine “roasted the Russian aggressors”. Reporting Russian desertions is about as believable.
Ex British military on the BBC with obvious sources within British officer/observers in Ukraine were giving the most reliable information regarding this meat grinder. Lately they seem to have been silenced.
I wish they would all desert.... both sides.
What beneficial purpose justifies the death, destruction, and suffering? What difference does any of this make for the average Ukrainian (those who still remain there) or Russian (who has no real grudge against Ukrainians)?

Today at 1.30 am in the Zaporozhye direction, the enemy attempted to break through the defense with the forces of the 47th mechanized brigade, numbering up to 1,500 people and 150 armored vehicles.
The enemy was detected in a timely manner, and a preventive strike was delivered by artillery, aviation and anti-tank weapons. During the two-hour battle, Ukrainian losses amounted to 30 tanks, 11 infantry fighting vehicles, up to 350 people.
The enemy was stopped in all four directions and retreated with heavy losses. The reserve forces specially trained by Kiev to carry out a breakthrough in the Zaporozhye direction did not fulfill their task.
