Fox News Wednesday notified Tucker Carlson's lawyers that the former prime-time anchor violated his contract with the network when he launched his own Twitter show on Tuesday, according to a copy of a letter obtained by Axios.
Why it matters: A breach of contract claim sets Fox News up to explore potential legal action against Carlson, a move that would intensify the already thorny public battle between the two parties.
Carlson’s lawyers told Axios that any legal action by Fox would violate his First Amendment rights.
“Fox defends its very existence on freedom of speech grounds. Now they want to take Tucker Carlson’s right to speak freely away from him because he took to social media to share his thoughts on current events," said Carlson's lawyer, Bryan Freedman, in a statement to Axios.

Whoever is running Fox these days has decided that silencing Tucker is very, very important. For that reason alone, I am very interested in what he has to say.

Ridiculous. How could stories of tucker’s time at fox be leaked if it wasn’t from fox. Doesn’t matter who. It had to come from fox. And that is breach of contract prior to carlson’s tweet FOR WHICH he was not paid, had no advertisements, had no contracts. So, he was simply doing what every American on social media does... he was expressing his thoughts.
So, can a contract silence your personal comments? I doubt that is possible, especially when the opening soundbite from fox the night the knife fell was “WE have PARTED WAYS with Tucker Carlson.” or words to that effect.
Sounds like they verbally terminated their contract with Carlson.

Any FOX lawsuits is their death. Die quickly, please.
That said, I haven’t watched any cable or TV for three years. Fox was the only conservative website available for many years- when they cut their throat by ditching Carlson ( and a moral conservative view) and denying election fraud, they lost millions.
Sorry FOX, I am not going to apply the tourniquet, like Budweiser and Target ( and hopefully more), I marvel at “ Justice”, make it quick.

That’s legalities that have to be sorted out in court. Even if Fox was right to consider Twitter a competitor, Tucker was willing to forego his contract bonus to start his own show on Twitter.
You could be right. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, when they started Southpark, Comedy Central didn’t think it was going to be very successful and, consequently, they were willing to give very generous terms to them for what they thought would be a short-term show. That cost Comedy Central $2 billion, to Stone’s and Parker’s credit.
But that’s all going to be sorted in court.

This opens up Fox to discovery by Carlsons attorneys, which I’m betting will reveal an unlawful termination or breech of contract on the part of Fox, freeing Carlson from his contract and awarded damages and fees.

Last I checked his Twitter video had 67 million views. Fox pulled what, 3 million on a really good night? No wonder they’re scared.
Those are stunning numbers. Cable TV is finished. If Fox News was smart (which they're not), they would break away from cable TV completely and broadcast solely online.
To: dynachrome
To be expected. Tucker has 90 million views and FNC has lost over 60% of their audience. FNC is cornered.

If you monetize your unalienable rights, you lose them? Please help me understand how you lose your rights, by exercising them?

FNC is in NY which is very bad for Tucker if it goes to court. NY, DC and CA the rats control the courts in those places. What terrible place we are in when you 3 of the country’s biggest concentration of power absolutely comprised.

Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson is locked in a contract dispute with his former network who took him off the air, but continues to enforce the contract he signed with them. As the contract battle wages, and while litigation with the network continues, Carlson is limited in his options for platform broadcast.
As a result, Tucker Carlson’s personal Twitter account which existed prior to his Fox contract and is not subject to the terms and agreements, remains an outlet for him to use while not violating his non-compete clause. Almost all other platforms represent what would be considered online competition to Fox Digital, so broadcasting a new show on any of those digital platforms would represent a potential legal issue and not an option. {Direct Rumble Link}
Tonight, Tucker Carlson aired a 10-minute monologue, what he calls “episode 1” from his Twitter account. While Tucker does not financially benefit from the Twitter platform, for the social media owner Elon Musk the broadcast represents much needed content oxygen. Tucker states at the end of his monologue that if Twitter suppresses or uses their internal fact-check mechanism known as ‘Community Notes‘ to control his content, he will exit the platform.
WATCH:
(Reuters) […] Ukraine and Russia blame each other for the collapse of the massive dam on Tuesday, which sent floodwaters across a swathe of the war zone and forced thousands to flee. Ukraine said Russia committed a deliberate war crime in blowing up the Soviet-era Nova Kakhovka dam, which powered a hydroelectric station. The Kremlin blamed Ukraine, saying it was trying to distract from the launch of a major counteroffensive Moscow says is faltering. (more)
Elon Musk, who not coincidentally entered an ideological alignment with Fox News CEO Rupert Murdoch on behalf of Ron DeSantis, has a vested financial interest in making sure his Community Notes police do not attach warnings and citations to the “controversial” dialogue of Carlson. While there appears to be an ongoing CN notes war in the background, so far the Musk administrators have been able to keep the platform control agents from impeding the broadcast.
NOTE: CTH was tipped off last night that this broadcast by Tucker Carlson would likely take place today. As expected, the scraping of the Tucker video on to alternate distribution platforms took place. Hence, we are sharing the Rumble version of the Carlson broadcast.

Online Free video which Tucker was not paid is a violation of his contract? WOW? Yeah, I'm not sure how a twitter stream is a "broadcast" myself. LOL!
HEY FOX! GO F YOURSELVES.

He didn’t take a position with a TV, Radio, Blog, Vblog, or Podcast. Now, I don’t know much about those “jobs”, but it seems to me that it would mean that Tucker is simply going on Twitter and expressing his views and comments.
Sounds like First Amendment to me.

I had heard rumors that Fox had already violated their contract with him when they wouldn’t allow him to post the J6 vids...
On another note, last week I was in V.A. physical therapy waiting room when the 2 that sit at the waiting room check-in/desk(s) started chatting with me about the current political disaster (they were obviously pro-Trump), when the only other person in there, another (black) man waiting for his physical therapist spoke up (without even looking up from his phone) and said, “You are another Fox BS follower”, presumably talking to me..
The 2 at the desk had eyes open wide (and then rolled their eyes, and stuck their heads back in their computers).
All I said back, was that he was wrong since I don’t watch Fox (I don’t even watch TV).
After he was called in to his appointment, the female apologized to me and said that not everyone thinks like him (or something like that). She then said he much get his news from bad sources (chortle!).
Then my appointment started..

That’s why they didn’t technically fire him (yet.) He’s technically still under contract through the beginning of 2025, and Fox wants to silence him during the election campaign.

He’s under contract until early 2025, according to Megyn Kelly.
