The destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine may deprive Russian-occupied Crimea of vital freshwater supplies for more than a decade, according to the head of the Ukrainian Ecological League.
Kyiv has started the evacuation of thousands of residents on the west bank of the river, while urging Russian occupation authorities on the east bank to evacuate tens of thousands more.
While both sides grapple with the sudden devastation, the water levels at the Nova Kakhovka reservoir—which is north of the dam and was a source of water for the North Crimean Canal and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant's cooling system—are falling rapidly.

This is the one thing that scares me about switching all or most of power production to nuke. Situations like these don't scare me as much as the political class using events like this as an excuse to shut down all nuke plants. They'll do it even louder and harder than they're current war on what they only recently referred to as "clean burning natural gas".

War is always very expensive and usually very stupid as well.
I also heard on a podcast this morning that there were a lot of contaminants that settled to the bottom of the reservoir that are now being spread all over the farmland below the dam which may contaminate the fields for decades to come.
Russia had nearly a year to prepare for this, so Crimea and the Nuke plant will be fine.

At the end of the day, I do suspect that Ukraine was behind this dam destruction. Either way, not an American concern what the Russians and Ukrainians do to each other, not in our national interest. And Linda Graham should resign from Congress and join up if he thinks its so important. In order to kill Russians, he has to kill Ukrainians. It is all about what the establishment perceives as their interests (Which isn’t the same as US interests).

The “Warthog” You Tube channel has video of the dam being demolished. There was no collapse, just a series of huge demolition charges going off.
That video of Graham and his facial expressions was one of the most disturbing things I have seen in a long time. I watched it several times and he looks almost euphoric about all the death and destruction.
