Newt Gingrich: Trump Shouldn't Participate In GOP Primary Debates, Why Give Publicity To People Who Can't Get It Themselves?
Real Clear Politics ^ | 6/6/23 | Tim Haines

Posted on 06/07/2023 3:47:38 AM PDT by cotton1706

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich advised former President Trump not to waste his time debating rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination during a Tuesday morning guest spot with FBN's "Mornings With Maria" Bartiromo.

NEWT GINGRICH: In the national polls, [Trump is] up over Biden by a bigger margin than Governor DeSantis. Look, I think Governor DeSantis has been a very good governor in Florida, I think he's very successful, he's certainly done a great job with the state.

I think he found it very hard to transition to being a presidential candidate. He had a chance to make it one-of-two between he and Trump, he clearly has failed. That's why you have all these new candidates coming in. And all of them, think of it this way. There are two lakes here. There's a Trump lake, at 53, 54%, and everybody else. The problem is that everybody else ought to be focusing on draining the Trump lake and making it smaller, instead they are all going to be competing for the same 40% of the vote.

I guarantee you at Mar-a-Lago, they break out the champagne every time there's a new candidate. They would love to have 15 or 20 candidates.

I predict Trump will not be at debates. He will say, "I am ahead by 28, 30, 35 points, why would I get on a stage with somebody who's at 3%?" And then the country will basically ignore the debates.

MARIA BARTIROMO: So you don't think he's going to be at this first upcoming GOP debate in August then?

NEWT GINGRICH: My personal advice would be don't do it. why would you go there and give publicity to people who can not get publicity on their own?

Plan B would be to keep control of Congress as much as possible and be glad Trump is gone and build for the future

Anything else is the unthinkable

Ruled out?

Do you know what time it is really

They are corporatists and most billionaires enamoured with foreign wars now thus hardly Abbie Hoffman and the GOPe are just going along mostly

Either we win and slow it down

Or we do nothing and the new world order is ensconced

Or we fight and have an apocalypse unprecedented which takes the entire world except maybe Russia which is fairly self sufficient into a dark hole ending up with who knows

And my young children and grandkids die

That’s our future as I see it

The left is no longer the left really

It’s just destruction of classic western Christian republican govt ideology

Replaced by total woke control

Only Trump has a chance

Its that simple

bunch of bullet points...

Only Trump has a chance

Its that simple

Then it should be a simple thing for Trump to show up at the debates and make the case you laid out.

I've never seen people so afraid of letting their (maybe our) candidate debate.

Trump has already said he isn’t going to debate in the primaries.

No debate, no vote. He’ll debate as the downside will be too much. He’s a narcisist anyway, an entertainer that thinks it’s all about him. It will be whether he is there or not.

What Gingrich is saying sort of makes sense. But the problem is, if Trump were to actually follow his advice, the others would use it to attack him for it and they would probably have some success doing so.

Trump could skip the GOP debates and organize debates of his own and only invite candidates who reach some threshold, maybe 5%, in the polls. I don’teven know if he would be better off doing that. Trump usually does pretty well in these MSM/Establishment sponsored debates. He seems to thrive on the adversity, when everyone including the moderators are attacking him.

If Trump is the nominee you will vote for him though right?

Honestly? I don’t know. I think in hindsight, other than the new justices, his administration was a fleeting success but long term failure. Anyway, not contemplating that now, it’s over a year and a half away.

Why do I have to? I’m not politically connected. HE said he would find and bring in the best people.

I can understand why he has so much trouble finding talent though since a lot of the people who might otherwise work for him know they’ll probably end up getting publicly trashed by him if they slip up or otherwise don’t meet his expectations.

Frightening new things are being discovered about fundamental changes in parts of our immune system. These are being found to correlate with numbers of vaccine shots received. These changes are NOT good, and political support for follow=up research and monitoring could be a significant campaign issue once people are educated about these vaccine dangers.

Bottome line, do not get more Covid jabs, use good nutrition information to enhance your immune system and protect from serious illness.
