HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A large homeless encampment in Hollywood is being cleared out and placed into hotels as the city of Los Angeles continues to try to fix its growing homelessness problem.
The cleanup began Tuesday morning at the intersection of El Centro Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard near The Fonda Theatre.
The people living in tents will reportedly be offered housing through the city's Inside Safe program, which has helped complete several other homeless encampment cleanups in areas like Venice and other parts of L.A. Another large encampment sits near Argyle Avenue and Yucca Street.
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said she is looking ahead to bringing the program to more neighborhoods.
"The next step for the program is to expand citywide. We're going to be because of the budget that was passed. That I signed a week ago. It's going to allow us to increase our capacity and go into more neighborhoods," said Bass.

These people should not be living for free in hotels. They need ro be bused back where they came from and the border needs to be closed.
This sounds like one of those “housing first” programs ...
no rules .... just come on in.
It will be no time before the drug and alcohol abuse turns these hotels into horror scenes.
Trash, needles , people...laying all over ...
I wouldn't be surprised if there will be tents set up inside to make them feel at home.
“Hollywood needs several hundred busses full of illegal aliens.”
Once the word gets out that they can get free housing, room service, wifi, a cellphone and spending money in Hollyweird they will be lining up at the border. Oh right they are already lining up at the border.
Hollywood needs a LOT more hopium.
They’re putting them in hotels....lol
The homeless: “Mission Accomplished”!!
LOL. I just went to Google Maps street view and drove around a bit. Right at the intersection of El Centro and Hollywood Boulevard is the Hollywood Hemp Museum, with signs referencing “History, Art, Culture” and Tours. The building is a total dump. The hemp culture encampment is right alongside. It’s a highly appropriate location. Maybe the homeless residents should have claimed to be an artistic installation associated with the museum.
However, as usual with progs, I didn't hear any details on the funding. That will be disclosed later in a bloated budget and in higher taxes for the productive.
Option 1. Distribute all the seized fentnayl to the homeless every Friday Night
option 2 Round them ll up and put them in the Coliseum
option 3 build a POW regulation camp in the desert and put them there.
Bass can do anything she wants as long as she spends only CA tax dollars. No way should any non residents of CA pay for any of this.
That’s just moving the garbage from the encampment to hotels. They’ll have the hotels trashed and burned to the ground in no time.
We'll be ba-a-a-a-ck," said in an Arnold SchwarzenHomeless voice....
Los Angeles has been shipping the drug addicts and alcoholics to my area in Chatsworth in the San Fernando valley. They are building a site to house some just across the street from a high school and about one block away is a kindergarten school. There is also a now deserted hotel a few blocks from that site and next to a train station where there is a large camp. The stores and homes have rampant crime now. This use to be a very nice safe area.
Chatsworth is a part of City of Los Angeles...LAPD Devonshire Station patrols the area...
I am sure that many Chatsworth residents are complaining to their City Council member...John Lee...
