In May 2023 Fox News ratings felt the impact of the suddenly departed Tucker Carlson, whose last telecast was April 21.
For May, Fox News averaged 1.42 million viewers in primetime, a 32% decline from April, when the network averaged 2.08 million viewers. (All ratings are based on live + same day from Nielsen.)
For the total day, in May, Fox News had an average audience of 1.09 million viewers, compared to 1.29 million in April, a fall-off of 16%. Despite the audience decline, May 2023 marked the 27th straight month Fox News has been the top-rated cable news network in daypart.

Good. Including me. Won’t be back.
As the old joke goes, “The dogs don’t like the dog food.”
I, as well. I haven't made up my mind as far as returning. (I still look at the online Fox news, so far anyway.)
And Newsmax has doubled and is beating CNN.
I have been gone from Fox News for quite a while now. I will not be going back.
Cable in general is dying.
I cut it in 2016.
Fox News problem is different than Bud Light’s.
People going to drink beer, it’s a matter of choice.
The consumption of cable content is different.
The business model of bundling subscriptions will be gone in less than five years.
Think about the TYRANNY of the cable bundle.
To subscribe to one cable news channel, you had to subscribe to THREE.
The Fox News viewers complaining about CNN were subscribing to CNN.

Fox cut Tucker because he wasn’t ever going to get on the Ron train.
But Fox has bigger problems down the line.
It won’t be long until they starting cutting jobs because of the the economics.
“Good. Including me. Won’t be back.”
My exact sentiment!
Well said!
Only a third? Should have been half.
FU Fox.
I have not been a big fan of Fox News since they got in on the election steal in Arizona. I like Tucker but I didn’t watch him then and I still don’t. I won’t watch Fox as long as they have Sean Vannity. I have no love for the blowhard.
I remember people saying they wouldn’t be back to Fox in 2015 and 2916.
Okay, but now people find out streaming isn’t better.
Just shows how stupid and indoctrinated the remaining 2/3s are.
We have stuff like TwitterTV coming.
Musk is changing the way things are done.
As if they care. Billionairs will foot the bill for their bilge.
Foreign and domestic, btw.
After losing 1/3, FoxNews would need to double their audience to get back to where they were before.
“In May, Fox News Lost Nearly One-Third Of Its Primetime Audience”
just two words
......... couch cushions ....
It's going to be harder for Fox to regain the viewers they've lost. Too easy for us to find other things to watch via streaming. Besides, Fox News lucked out with Tucker Carlson after they fired Bill O'Reilly. This time? They'll replace him with somebody like Sean Hannity who's not going to rock the boat.
