Russia's defence ministry said early on Tuesday that it had thwarted another major offensive by Ukrainian forces in Donetsk, inflicting huge personnel losses and destroying eight main battle Leopard tanks as Kyiv forces pressed on.
"Having suffered heavy losses the day before, the Kiev regime reorganized the remnants of the 23rd and 31st mechanized brigades into separate consolidated units, which continued offensive operations," the ministry said on its Telegram channel.
"A complex fire defeat was inflicted by army forces, assault and operational-tactical aviation, missile forces and artillery, as well as heavy flamethrower systems."

Based on my research Russia did stop an offensive in the area, but it wasn’t major. It was like 1 tank and 3 vehicles with some guys along. It was the size of a company (The smallest formation). But they did stop it.
I hope this is just Russian PR spin for their country because if this is what they think is major what happens when they see a battalion?

This is the first time I’ve heard that Leopard main battle tanks were destroyed or even committed to this “offensive”. If true, this might actually be the Ukrainians’ offensive. Time will tell.
Some Bradleys got wrecked too, I heard.
If the the Ukes make a “Counter attack” and it fails, we might see the end of the war by July.
Fully believe Russian MOD so add the total bradleys destroyed to the sept number?
The Ukrainians are making flailing attempts at counter attacks, and they are failing, but they have said they won’t tell us when ‘it’ begins. So as the current counter attack fails, they’ll continue to say it wasn’t ‘the’ counter’ attack for which the are preparing to launch soon...*rinse and repeat*

How is it that the Russian military, once considered the second or third most powerful in he world, still cannot take Ukraine? (not that I want them to).
Was it all just fluff blown out of proportion to justify defense budgets and fancy stuff from defense contractors? If Russia can’t even take Ukraine, other then nuisance value (and of course the nukes) Russia is not a major threat to anyone. Why is my taxpayer money financing a military budget more than the next 15 nations combined?
Too early to say what his really happening—wait a day or so to see the truth. The Fog of war is too thick now. Time will expose the truth—who is winning and who is not.
