During this week’s broadcast of FNC’s “Sunday Morning Futures,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) insisted the debt ceiling deal reached by House Republicans and the Biden White House was the “beginning of turning the ship.”
“Mr. Speaker, thanks so much for joining us this morning,” FNC host Maria Bartiromo said. “Congratulations to you after all of this work you have put into this. How are you feeling this morning after the president signed the bill into law?”

We are spending 26% more every year than the fed takes in, but agreeing to limit discretionary spending increases to 1% next year while literally allowing treasury to borrow whatever it wants for a year, with no limit, is somehow a WIN?

We don’t get explanations. Just excuses, obfuscation and lies.
McCarthy, McHenry and Grave have negotiated an econmic deal with the Dems that will turn this ship on its side.

He’ll have a book out attacking Trump and the right in a few years.
Turning it to port, in a constant vicious circle.
They view it as a win because it slows the inevitable. The #1 goal of congress is to kick the can.
We (correctly) view it as the man on the side of a mountain falling at 10mph who somehow slows himself to 7mph. There is little chance the man can stop sliding or ever make it back to the top of the mountain but even then he tries to delay the inevitable.
The edge of the cliff will never move and the result will be the same regardless of how fast we fall over it and how many fingernails we rip out in the process.
This “deal” has the swampy smell of something that Paul Ryan cooked up.

This assumes that the people on the bridge actually want the ship turned. It might seem that we have turned two degrees right rudder, but the course will be straightened out (OK, gayed out, no one in DC supports anything straight anymore) quickly and without any bugle call.

As opposed to demanding everything at once and having the ship sink immediately.
Now we wait for the fortuitous ‘wave from God’ that rights the ship just as we are saying good bye to those we love.
