MOSCOW, June 5 (Reuters) - Russian forces have thwarted a major Ukrainian offensive in the southern Ukrainian region of Donetsk and killed hundreds of pro-Kyiv troops, the defence ministry in Moscow said on Monday. In a statement, the ministry said Ukraine had launched the attack on Sunday using six mechanised and two tank battalions. "On the morning of June 4, the enemy launched a large-scale offensive in five sectors of the front in the South Donetsk direction," the ministry said on the Telegram messaging app. Reuters was unable to immediately verify the Russian statement. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine.

“The start of the counter offensive?”
Possibly the end, too.
The ministry also released video of what it said showed several Ukrainian armoured vehicles in a field blowing up after being hit.

Could be the end…unless we send $10 Billion More U.S. Tax Dollars.
Quick, tell McCarthy to send $10 tril from social security!!
I don’t believe Russian propaganda.
I don’t believe Ukranian propaganda, either.
How is it that every military video is total crap. They always said they had satellites that could read a postage stamp from space 40 years ago when I was a kid. The average 1st grader can fly drones and hack into the pentagon with their iPhone and the graphics on my family’s Pong gang in 1979 were better than this stupid video in the Twitter link.

I watched a pod cast that claimed shocking troop estimates.
It said due to the attrition of Artemisk/Bakhmut battles and others the Ukr forces are down to under 50,000 effectives. Russ 10x that. Possible 800,000 Russ strong army facing Ukraine.
Said Ukr has lost 7 to every 1 of Russ losses. Oh also said Russ has decimated the Ukr drone force.
Of course I can’t prove nor disprove that.
To be honest I’m starting to wonder about the spring offensive and if the estimates are perhaps off still largely true. Barbarossa was launched June 22, 1941 and was 6 weeks later than the ideal start date. Ukr may be too weak to attack.
Since this war started, the Biden administration has not spoken a single word about a cease fire or any sort of negotiated peace.
In the old days, at the very least they would have sent Jesse Jackson, or somesuch.
Do you believe American propaganda?
That’s ok. Joe will send them another billion to keep them going. Zelensky will milk this - er, I mean, fight - to the last Ukrainian
Seems like the United Nations doesn't give a crap either.
That’s approximately 6,000 men and 120 tanks.
Up to 400 IFVs.
That’s a very big shootout.
“The start of the counter-offensive?”
Likely a lot of American money going up in smoke. Not a comment on whether this is the truth or not or even who is right or wrong. It is always painful and costly to try and take land from a well-fortified defensive position. The Ukranian gave the Russians a lot of time and warning to dig in.
The paid shills will be along shortly to call us all “Putin lovers,” or worse.
Paid by DOD, State, and of course, the Ukrainian lobby. That lobby makes more contacts each year with congress critters than any other country. True fact. And they’re famous for leaving literal bags of cash on doorsteps.
And now they’re most definitely here.
