Everything in moderation.
I guess the FDA really stands for the Federal Death Agency after reading this.
Where do they stand when it comes to the genders of cattle?
Can cows be bulls and vice versa..or perhaps they are non binary?
Lol, same here. “Always be prepared to BBQ”.
Would be interesting to hear this writer’s take on vegetable fat versus animal fat.
They want to prune about 6=7 billion people from the planet.
Eating too much of anything has and always will eventually make someone fat. Fatty foods have more calories than foods that are made up mostly of protein and carbohydrates. So you don't need to eat as much of them to consume an excess amount of calories. Additionally, the metabolic process is more direct when it comes to turning fatty foods into body fat.
Sugary or starchy foods with a high glycemic index tend to spike a person's blood sugar, causing their body to produce more insulin. This eventually results in the body becoming more insulin resistant which is a precursor to type 2 diabetes. Eating too much protein without enough other foods can be dangerous and can be hard on your liver and kidneys and also cause other health problems.
There are many trade-offs but calling basic observations “propaganda” is far-fetched. Some diet gurus obsessions with eating almost no carbohydrates to try and force the body into ketoacidosis is near insanity. It is not healthy, makes one smell horrible, and in older folks especially robs them of energy.
Got about a 6 pound rib roast going on the smoker today, slathered in a garlic herb REAL butter blend. Yum!
One of the most important nutrient of food is energy (calories). It’s the fuel that allows us to be active, to live.
In primitive times (and even today with primitive tribes) food was a scarce resource. Hunting and gathering took up most of people’s time. That was man’s main activity and often came up empty handed. So naturally food with lots of energy (calories) was highly prized. And that’s food with lots of fat.
Today food is so abundant and inexpensive that it’s easy to overindulge. Hunting and gathering consists of going to Costco and loading up a cart the size of a small room with thousands and thousands of calories.
And we burn a whole lot less calories doing so than the real hunters/gatherers. In fact today it’s become virtuous to pay to join a gym to walk and run to nowhere and do strenuous, useless work to purposefully burn those calories. So our problem is not too few calories but way too many. Obesity is the problem not starvation.
And that is why there is a prejudice against fat today. We look for food with fewer calories so we can stuff our faces to please our palate, and not become a blimp. The content of energy (calories) in food has become a negative.
So advocating the “righteous” eating habits of some starving primitive tribe, as this article does, in an obese world is irrational.
What the author may be missing is that those guidelines are targeted at a comparatively sedentary population.
Too late for the West, as we’re in the process of ENDING meat consumption and nothing short of violent revolution will change this path.
For Russia, China, India and the Third World, they will still have beef and other meats, providing the Globalists (and their Neocons friends) are prevented from getting control of those countries.
“To the Bardi, foods lacking in fat were considered “rubbish.” If a kangaroo was too lean, they threw it away.”
The Eskimos knew the same. When they captured a walrus, or whatever, they took all of the fat for themselves, and threw the scraps of lean meat to the dogs.
The bottom line is very simple: If the food is unprocessed and it tastes good...perhaps it’s for a reason.
Just ask yourself this question??? What do ranchers feed their cattle BEFORE TAKING THEM TO MARKET??? GRAIN, IT PUTS THE WEIGHT ON THEM. So, what has the FDA been telling all of us to eat to be healthy???? Grains. The answer is obvious. Beef and naturally occurring fats in your diet are not harmful.
I know from the personal experience of being overweight (technically obese) 10 years ago to becoming thin 8 years ago and staying thin to this day that the best thing I ever did for my health was to completely ignore the USDA, all diets and research papers. Fat was one of the keys that started my weight loss.
I began with changing from 2% milk to whole milk. I essentially felt satisfied drinking half the amount of whole milk than 2% milk. 8 oz of whole milk contains 152 calories. 8 oz of 2% milk contains 122 calories, but drinking 2 cups of 2% milk doubles the fat and increases the calories to 244.
I expanded the same idea to other things. The idea was not specific to fat, it was specific to what satisfied my hunger, although fat plays a role.
I just finished a late breakfast/brunch before writing this. I made breakfast tacos, partly from leftovers. I made corn tortillas from scratch: masa, lard and sprinkle of salt. I fried the tortillas in lard. I made two strips of bacon; two scrambled eggs mixed chicken taco seasoning which is homemade and conveniently ready and stored in jar; leftover goat cheese cream that I made from goat cheese, heavy cream and chives; and salsa. That made 2 tacos. (Side effect: I have leftover masa for tacos for dinner later this week - that will be a quick dinner.)
I am full, satisfied and more than likely I will not have any desire to eat until supper which is typically about 7 pm.
Another part of my eating habits is moderation. I stop eating when I am full, even if there is food left on my plate. That goes completely opposite of how I was raised, which included calls of “finish what’s on your plate if you want dessert.” Big mistake.
“When I was in Mongolia they served me a piece of meat with a lot of fat. I politely cut off the fat and ate the meat. On reflection I thought about how difficult it was to get fat on an animal in Mongolia and how I might have offended them”
You did - they likely gave you the prime piece of meat, but then we all were literally brainwashed. As I learned about this Globalist/Neocon scam regarding fat, me and a close friend had steaks. We left the fat on, but to both of us, it felt ‘weird’...well, not anymore - if I’m with someone and they cut the fat off a steak, I happily offer my services to prevent such a precious commodity from being thrown into the trash.
“I guess the FDA really stands for the Federal Death Agency after reading this.”
They’re OWNED by the processed food lobby, and now by the Globalists/Neocons who DO NOT want the ‘little people’ eating meat.
What’s scary is that they do have the power to simply outlaw meat, which I expect within the next decade.
I’m more worried about the massive levels of sodium in most prepared steaks. Man it tastes good but I just can’t process it.
I always wonder about the idea that eating fat turns right into fat on your body. How does it do that, simply morphing from inside the GI tract to the muscle zones elsewhere?
salt is good for you, too
the human brain needs fat to operate efficiently ... that’s why they pushed the low-fat diet so hard ...
