Tomato, Tomahto; Dee-Santis, Deh-Santis [Ron let his wife tell him how to say last name]
Tampa Bay Times ^

We asked DeSantis campaign Communications Director Stephen Lawson to straighten out the Dee/Deh conundrum. It had become the source of debate in our newsroom.

"It's also been a little controversial for us on the campaign trail," Lawson confessed. "He uses Dee-Santis."

But Casey Dee-Santis, seems to use Deh-Santis, right?

Pause.

"Yes," Lawson allowed. And added, "He prefers Dee-Santis."

Whoa. So this is a giant source of great friction between Mr. Dee-Santis and Mrs. Deh-Santis, then?

"I wouldn't go that far," Lawson deadpanned.

The mystery lingers.

“You may want to hold fire there boss. I hope he is wrong, however Attorney Robert Barnes has stated the New York Times is holding onto some spicey photos of DeSantis. “

And the Times held them back during DeSantis’ campaigns against Christ and Gillum because they knew they would come in handy when DeSantis ran for president? Don’t think so.

“You say Deh-San-tis and I say Dee-San-tis...”

Could make a catchy Broadway tune.

Primaries are a long way off … plenty of time for Trump to keep pi**ing people off.

He complains about RDS’ lack of loyalty, but he shows no loyalty himself (e.g. Kaylee).

Besides, Trump 2.0 will be a total dud … Lame Duck from Day 1.

From this song:

“Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off”

Things have come to a pretty pass
Our romance is growing flat,
For you like this and the other
While I go for this and that,

Goodness knows what the end will be
Oh I don’t know where I’m at
It looks as if we two will never be one
Something must be done:

You say either and I say either,
You say neither and I say neither
Either, either Neither, neither
Let’s call the whole thing off.

You like potato and I like potahto
You like tomato and I like tomahto
Potato, potahto, Tomato, tomahto.
Let’s call the whole thing off

DeSantis has gained almost 5 points in Iowa since he started campaigning there. Trump has lost 9 points. In one month. McLaughlin poll.

My maiden name is Dupre. Some family members pronounce it “Du-Pray”, some say DU-pree, some say Du-PREE. Glad I married my Scots-Irish Mr. Inspectorette, much easier ;-)

Much like the Epstein list, the ability to extort is more powerful that the ability to expose.

“This country has had enough of girl-boss First Ladies usurping political power to implement their own agendas. Jill/ Casey DeSantis seems to be cut from the same cloth as Hillary and Michelle, albeit with better comportment.”

Exactly. Casey runs the Santis family. Rhonda does what the boss says.

Good way to get votes with some people.

Maybe he’s pretending to be henpecked to get pity votes.

(I’m pretty sure it’s not “Dee-Santis”. Maybe the staffer got confused between “Dah-Santis” and “Deh-Santis”)

Maybe that would work with Democrats, but I can’t see Republicans wanting such gender bending stuff.

I too have a Scots-Irish heritage. I had a hard time with French at the university. Every word had a masculine or feminine form; le for masculine things/persons and la for feminine things/persons. However, in the plural, only les is used whatever the gender is.
