SOMEBODY is paying, and it is reflected in the prices the inflation and the sheer negligence to customers who DO pay. Perhaps an electronic device that shocks the thief on the way out— enough to make them pee, and also UV spray marking them. That would slow this up on major items.
Retail establishments simply use these thefts as a write off to balance their books.
I was at a Home Depot just this morning not too far from downtown Cleveland, Ohio, and I noticed that one of the two main front entrances now has a one-way gate installed when you enter, forcing you to exit through the other main door where the checkouts are located and numerous employees are around. First time I’ve seen this.
