Trump's Attack on Kayleigh McEnany Costs Him an Endorsement
Newsweek via MSN ^ | 1 Jun 23 | Aila Slisco

Posted on 06/02/2023 4:39:25 AM PDT by Erik Latranyi

Former President Donald Trump has lost a 2024 endorsement to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis over his attack on Kayleigh McEnany.

Trump lashed out at McEnany, his administration's White House press secretary, in a Truth Social post on Tuesday. The former president called McEnany "milktoast"—an apparent misspelling of "milquetoast," an insult for a timid or bland person—and insulted her current job as a Fox News host after she suggested during a broadcast earlier in the day that DeSantis could be "closing the gap" in Iowa's GOP primary race.

On Thursday, James Spillane, a New Hampshire Republican state representative, told NHJournal that he was withdrawing his endorsement of Trump over the "vitriol and disregard" the former president displayed toward McEnany. Spillane announced that he was instead endorsing DeSantis, Trump's bitter rival, while praising the governor for "his positive messaging."

"I can no longer continue endorsing former President Trump," Spillane told NHJournal. "I am officially withdrawing my endorsement, as his most recent attack on Kayleigh McEnany is beyond comprehension and explanation. Against my deepest hopes that Trump had learned some measure of control, he has attacked those who have been his staunchest supporters with no regard for their loyalty."

"I cannot condone the vitriol and disregard for others that Trump has been exhibiting, and I withdraw my endorsement immediately," he added. "I am endorsing Ron DeSantis for president in 2024. I pray for the nation that DeSantis remains true to his positive messaging and continues on to win the Republican primary with his vision of positive American success."

He is the fourth New Hampshire state representative to flip his endorsement from Trump to DeSantis in recent weeks, according to NHJournal.

A minor state representative, but an indication that Trump's behavior is wearing thin with some Republicans

Another amazing loser Trump appointed. Trump should promise he will not hire any more losers, but instead be his own Vice President, staff and cabinet. All Trump all the time. No more losers.

Of course conservatives will all vote for Trump if he gets the nomination. There is no way that D lever gets pulled (unless it’s RFK Jr maybe, though I believe he is pro abortion and pro gun control which is a deal killer).

However, I am starting to hear centrists say “anyone but Trump or Biden.”

Oh No. A Never-Trumper points out that Trump’s behavior is wearing thin. And uses a Newsweek/MSN article to prove it.

Spillane was the one endorsement I was waiting on. Now that he has declared Trump no good, I guess I will have to vote for Chris Christie. He is big enough for the whole party.

General Washington, your remarks about Benedict Arnold clearly indicate that you are unfit to be President.

“...but an indication that Trump’s behavior is wearing thin with some Republicans.”

Notice the DECEPTIVE, LYING use of the term “behavior” which is designed to be subliminally understood as “MISBEHAVIOR.”

Did she in fact low ball the poll numbers? I would have to assume she did and if she did she lied.

And, last week she was explaining on air how DeSantis could beat Trump, which surprised me since I thought she liked Trump.

Trump’s behavior is wearing thin with some Republicans? Trump’s behavior has not changed and won him the White House twice, the second time he got more votes than any other incumbent president.

Kayleigh max’s any attacked trump by spouting fox’s phony poll numbers. I don’t care if she’s cute and blonde with a high voice

It’s always trump attacking never any of the gop pretend patriot conservatives who go to the dark side who attempt to squash trump

James Spillane whoever he is can now use this as an excuse to give in to the pressure he’s getting to turn on trump. He’s weak and wimpy like 98 % of tge GOP.

So Trump’s behavior is turning people off, got it. I wonder what people will think of some of Ron’s *expressions*?

“Trump should promise he will not hire any more losers,”

Again. Always trumps fault. Any one doing work for trump gets pressured. They either give in or lose their lifestyle go to jail or lose a fortune most give in

I live in NH and have never heard this name before. The NH GOP is still mostly the Bush crowd. Sununu included.

The problem is that Trump, not anyone else, hired that “loser” along with a whole host of other “bad” personnel decisions real and imagined. And as far as vitriol goes, he’s progressed well into the imagined realm of his list. Not that something like that will keep legions of Trumpbots from lining up to masturbate in his shadow.
