At a recent conference, Disney parks chief Josh D’Amaro reportedly said the company is still looking to expand or enhance existing attractions at Disney World in Orlando to the tune of $17 billion.
D’Amaro was speaking last week at the the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media and Communications Conference in Boston, according to a CNBC report. He told audience members that the $17 billion investment “gives you a sense of how aggressive we’re being in Walt Disney World.”

Governors are temporary. They know that. They’ve got way too much money sunk in there to move out. Just the process of building a “replacement” park would take twice as long as DeSantis is going to be there.
Disney made a big deal about cancelling their huge planned Florida office campus, blaming it on Ron DeSantis/Republicans. Ignore the fact that in the post-Covid world, only complete morons are building corporate office space. You can probably buy the stuff for $0.50 on the pre-pandemic dollar. Maybe less.
They have to. Where else will they go? Oh, they could relate to San Pelosishitsco. Great weather, fresh turds, and lots of candidates to play Mickey Mouse & friends.
Yes, please go to Commiefornia and get out of Florida!
What are they gonna do, airlift Disney World to Massachusetts? They’re in a bind.
That’s right, any threat to cut back spending in Florida is based on Disney losing real money in other entertainment areas.
ESPN which they own is hemorrhaging subscribers, due to all the cord cutting, they have laid off dozens and dozens of people including on air personalities.
A number of their recent movies have been disasters, not enough people are willing spend money on movie tickets to be fed Transgender propaganda.
One way or the other DeSantis will be gone in a couple of years and a more friendly Governor will take his place.
Besides that, Florida mad at you is STILL a better deal than California or most other blue states pretending to want your business. The taxes, regs and laws in those states cost business, too.
There’s that small matter of the warm weather that lets the Mouse operate year round.
Florida’s a red state... there’s no way we’re going to elect anyone who supports the sexual mutilation and sterilization of children.
And we’re NEVER going to allow ‘queer sex/gender ‘education’ for our kids in grades K - 3 (the original bill groomers at Disney supported.)
Maybe Disney should pack up and move to some Blue State, BlueCity hellhole where their ideas ‘fit’. Maybe Chicago’s South Side? Or San Francisco? Disney could rename their park “Epstein’s playhouse’ and go hard core porn with it... Or they could stay the hell out of politics and remember Walt was a good man and stay to his vision.
Maybe Disney could move to Mexico — it’s warm there - and they could work out a deal with the cartels.
Cartels are moving lots of young children into American whorehouses... Could be be a match for groomers.
I wish they would give up sex politics and just go back to being Disney... And upgrading Epcot would be great. Please Disney, dump the groomer crap.
Right on.
Disney management suffers from Raskolnikov syndrome.
If you are your own god, then everything is permissible for YOU.
Except in the real world, it is not.
Governor Jared Polis @GovofCO · 20h Calling @GovRonDeSantis and @Disney on a friendly wager. If the @nuggets win the finals against the @MiamiHEAT , Disney World will move to Colorado, the ACTUAL happiest place on earth to do business, have fun, and be free! #ColoradoForAll
I guess money talks.
IOW, DeSantis is winning.
Large capital and maintenance expenditures at WDW have long been needed. Many of the rides there and at its associated attractions have gotten stale and need major work, while the entire complex has been up against capacity limits and guest safety and comfort issues for some time. The park also suffers competition from Universal and Sea World.
Yes, I know. I lived in Orlando for a while...
