A storm off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina, battered a Carnival cruise ship for hours late Friday night before it docked, leaving passengers terrified.
Passengers aboard the Carnival Sunshine described shattered glass, water pouring into rooms and hallways, the ship pitching about and a lack of communication from cruise staff. Some passengers and crew members needed "minor assistance" from medical staff, a Carnival cruise spokesman told CBS News. "Guests on board the ship were safe," the spokesman added.

Those ships have very sophisticated storm/weather tracking and the ability to communicate with other ships to find out what kind of seas they are running into. There is no excuse for a captain to take a cruse ship into that kind of situation.
More bang for the buck than the Disney windowless Star Wars experience hotel with the roaming Stormtroopers.
I agree. This isn’t 1980 with limited weather forecasting on the high seas. This had the potential to be worse than the El Faro sinking..
That storm system and its movement were forecast at least a week ago, expected to be off the SC coast during Memorial Day weekend. No suprises here.
Oh, the poor babies. They probably thought a ship at sea was all about unlimited alcohol and pampering service. Who ever would have imagined waves on the ocean??
To make matters worse, the passengers were not kept updated. The Captain blew em off
I did, however, have the dining room pretty much to myself for meals. When I arrived home, stopped at the store for some groceries. I was staggering and clutching onto the grocery cart like a drunken sailor. My sea legs were great. Land legs needed some time to adapt.
I looked at some of the videos of this yesterday, pretty nasty. One of the lower level crew decks had to be abandoned. 80mph wind. Water running in hallways, stuff falling down and over. Captain and cruise director gave no info for hours.
Twitter feeds on it were interesting and fun. Lots of news organizations asking for permission to use one guys video.
One guy asked for permission to use the video to show his wife the next time she mentioned going on a cruise.
For the record I like cruising.
I thought I read the ship is already gone again on it’s next cruise? Yuck.
I suspect at some point company lawyers told senior crew not sat anything. From the few articles I've read, power loss doesn't appear to in play....
Did ppl die? No.
Were ppl injured? No.
So why interrupt the ride with polite blah-blahs?
What are they supposed to say, "were in a storm, please be careful"?
It's a cruise. The storm gave a jet boat excursion at no cost.
...and weather events are in the cruise contract which EVERYONE accepted.
Such a bad movie. I remember the scene where people were dancing to Morning After. They danced like it was disco
“There is no excuse for a captain to take a cruise ship into that kind of situation.”
Picking up the next load of passengers is the excuse, and the ship did indeed pick them up on schedule.
I saw NBC’s footage and it didn’t show anything spectacular on the ship. Mainly it showed rough water.
The article said broken glass, not broken windows.
Any reports of flooding is bad, upper deck flooding is eschpeially bad...
That was good.
He was leaning on his balcony railing at about 4:00am when security cameras showed him falling over. His girlfriend reported him missing after she woke up later in the morning and couldn't find him.

Not to mention the Morro Castle.
