NATO has condemned as "totally unacceptable" attacks by demonstrators in Kosovo that left some 25 of its peacekeepers injured.
Police and NATO troops clashed with Serb protesters in the north where there has been unrest over the installation of ethnic Albanian mayors.
Tear gas and stun grenades were used to deter protesters in Zvecan, after they tried to invade a government building.
NATO soldiers also formed a security cordon around two other town halls...

Not NATO troops. United States Army soldiers. There wasn’t anybody else in that force.
Kosovo and Serbia at it again...not entirely surprising.
You say Kosovo and I say Kosova
Kosovo...Kosova....Kosova...Kosovo...
Let’s call the whole thing off!
I can go with that! LOL
UNSC 1244 provided the framework for the NATO occupation of Kosovo (which continues to this day), but was not implemented. The ethnic Albanian Assembly in Kosovo unilaterally declared independence in 2008. And the US, under Bush, recognized it. Not all countries have recognized it:
The ethnic Albanians ethnically cleansed Kosovo in June, 1999 of nearly all its ethnic Serbs, most of its Roma and other ethnic minorities (Croat, Gorani, Turk, etc.) and every last remaining Jew*, killing some, also killing some of the peaceful ethnic Albanians who were followers of Rugova**. Only a few Serbs remain, most in the northern enclave of Mitrovica.
*Not many at all left after the Nazi-allied Albanians did away with them during WWII.
**Most of the ethnic Albanians campaigning for autonomy before the NATO bombing were followers of Rugova, and were non-violent. Although the narco-criminal and very violent KLA led by Hashim “The Snake” Thaci mainly targeted and massacred ethnic Serbs before the bombing, they also murdered Digits followers.
It gets confusing. The whole tangled mess in former Y is confusing. I just happened to follow it all very closely.
Monica’s war?
Doesn't it boil down to Orthodox Christians vs. Roman Catholics vs. Muslims?
Not really. It’s one aspect, and the one mpst often chosen to differentiate/designate the different groups, but it’s a lot more complicated than that. I may try writing more about it tomorrow, but might bore everyone.
The unspellables are killing the unpronouceables!
