Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is accused of impeachable offenses including bribery tied to helping a woman with whom he allegedly had an affair get a job through Austin real estate investor Nate Paul.
His wife, state Sen. Angela Paxton, may soon decide whether he deserves to be removed from office for that and other alleged violations of law and the public trust, which were released Thursday night by a Texas House committee.
The senator’s chief of staff did not respond to a request for comment about whether she would recuse herself.
“The first option would be for her to recuse herself,” said Cal Jillson, a political science professor at Southern Methodist University. “The second would be for the Senate to make that judgment on whether they believe going forward with a sitting senator being a spouse of a person on trial is a look you would like to have.”

Neither Paxton nor his wife has commented about allegations of the affair, which first surfaced in a lawsuit filed against him by whistleblowers who were his top deputies before they complained to law enforcement about Paxton's conduct.

That may be their motive, but that is not the question, is it? The question is, is he guilty of the things charged? It is one thing when the charges are completely manufactured, but if the charges are valid, even if the reason for pursuing them is political, then I am not going to say we should ignore criminal or corrupt activity just because the reason for prosecuting it is political.
We don’t have that luxury anymore, this is war. Would you have fired Ike for having an affair with Kay Summersby?
Yes put someone else in there. There are so many wonderful politicians to choose from. Abbott for one is wonderful allowing tens of millions through the texas border or Katie Hobbs’ people.
Stop talking to me
Why am I not surprised that so many Trump supporters are willing and even eager to overlook potential unethical, immoral and even criminal behavior if it creates a political outcome they like? I have not made up my mind about the validity of the charges against Paxton, but it certainly seems like they should be adjudicated.
When Rats start doing the same, then we’ll talk.
“Republicans do the Democrats dirty work and don’t protect their own. Then we whine that all we have left are Rino’s and the Democrats laugh. They always protect theirs.”
You have that right. Just think of the good conservative political candidates who have been taken down through-out the years due to allegations of sexual or other improprieties. Once a candidate or politician is removed, suddenly the allegations just disappear or are deemed unimportant. Except for Trump. He refuses to go away. That’s why the continued lawfare against him. They do it over and over, removing the more conservative man or woman, leaving the Rinos in place.
All I know is that the legislature was once again AWOL when it came to runaway property taxes, illegal immigration and a whole host of issues demanding immediate attention that negatively affect citizens.
But they’re all fit to fight when it comes to yet another penis measuring contest on the public dime.
I’m damned sick of it
This is the state that gave us LBJ
Steers and Queers.
“I got the impression that his wife was not supporting this impeachment, but that his former staffers/whistleblowers were.”
Not familiar with this story since it seemingly just popped up on the radar. I wonder if any of the former staffer/whistleblowers are Democrats....or recently converted. Or recently bribed. Will be interesting to see the trial “discovery phase”.
But it could all just be to taint the reputation based on bad optics created by the left. They did it successfully against Tom DeLay, after all.
“They do it over and over, removing the more conservative man or woman, leaving the Rinos in place.”
That, and their intimidation factor, is the tried and true methods of the commie left. Apparently, Paxton was thwarting Big Pharma/Pfizer. And as we all know by now, if you want to live and keep your career, you don’t go up against Big Pharma and/or the Clintons. Unless you want to end up Vince Foster’d, Seth Rich’d or Epstein’d....or many others on the dead-by-coinkydence-circumstances list.
Florida Supreme Court approves DeSantis call for coronavirus vaccine grand jury
For those who might not have caught the interview, Matt Gaetz filled in for Greg Kelly on Friday night on NewsMax.... Here is a link for his interview with Ken Paxton. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzqT5buFinc
Wow. And still the Trumpers call him a DS globalist type. Nothing could be further from the truth if he’s going up against Big Pharma. In fact, he’s got bigger nads than any GOPer I know off today. Impressive.
But realistically, we know this won’t go anywhere, don’t we. Just like investigations into election fraud. It appears to have all been built into the fundamentally transformed system.
My hope (granted, not expectation) is that some leaks from the grand jury, if not actual indictments might start dropping during the primary season to bring attention back to Trump’s support of the vaccines (he’s literally called the “Trumpcine” before).
Supposedly the Surgeon General of Florida already loaded the Grand Jury up with incredibly incriminating evidence about how they knew the death rate of unborn babies was something stupid like 40% in the trials, but the approval got rammed through anyway.
It could open the floodgates of litigation and likely end up breaking a lot of the special laws and privileges that big Pharma has now.
“It could open the floodgates of litigation and likely end up breaking a lot of the special laws and privileges that big Pharma has now.”
Heads need to roll, literally, over the deaths that have already been caused by the vaccines. But being the pessimist I’ve become, I don’t expect any justice to be done in this nation from here on. I’d love to be proven wrong, however. I’m glad that you (and others) still have hope for justice. As long as you still have hope, you still strive for change for the better.
I agree, but that never happens in modern America anymore. It's hard to even get sent to prison in a lot of places, especially where these cretins live. Not to mention, they'd probably rather die than lose their money and power, anyway.

You can bet Taylor Goldenstein really hateed Camela Harris for boinking Willie Brown when Willie was the big stud in California. Willie’s wife had to stay home when Willie and Camelass were out on the town.
I have not seen the charges. I welcome you posting them here.
I did see video testimony from a house member who participated in the deliberations and in his hearing there was nothing in the current term and the entire set of allegations were illegal.
Let’s see it.
I think the fact they did it less than 24 hours before the legislative clock expires on a group that only meets every other years is proof of corruption.
They did it at 4pm Saturday during Memorial Day weekend.
Phelan new exactly what his corruption was put to.
Please post your evidence.
