They obviously fear DeSantis, just look at all of the ads they are spending with negative Dem type attacks.

More like the only competition at this point so why waste time/money on others unless things change. That said, RDS is waaaay behind, even though he is the closest in the poll numbers t Trump, so using the word “fear” is hyperbole. It’s politics—that’s the game.

Is it fear or selection of the best possible target? After all, by focusing on the most threatening opponent, you get a chance to fire up your base supporters.

And that seems to be what’s occurred. The Trump team pounded DeSantis’ unforced errors and suddenly DeSantis got no campaign launch spike in numbers.
