Texas GOP Chair Blasts Dade Phelan’s ‘Sham Impeachment’ of Attorney General Ken Paxton

Matt Rinaldi says it will be up to the Senate to stand against the impeachment..

Following moves in the Texas House to move forward with what some are calling an “illegal impeachment” against Attorney General Ken Paxton, the chairman of the Republican Party of Texas is blasting the chamber for its liberal leadership.

“Speaker Dade Phelan and his leadership team have appointed Democrats to high ranking leadership positions, attacked the Republican Party of Texas, battled our conservative Lieutenant Governor, and killed Governor Abbott’s top priorities,” said Texas GOP Chairman Matt Rinaldi. “The impeachment proceedings against the Attorney General are but the latest front in the Texas House’s war against Republicans to stop the conservative direction of our state.”

This sham impeachment is the result of the Phelan leadership team empowering Democrats, allowing them to hold leadership positions and letting them control the agenda. It is based on allegations already litigated by voters, led by a liberal Speaker trying to undermine his conservative adversaries, and investigated bylawyers connected to a Democrat on the House General Investigations Committee. The voters have supported General Paxton through three elections-and his popularity has only grown despite millions of dollars spent to try to defeat him. Now the Texas House is trying to overturn the election results.

The statement comes after the House General Investigating Committee referred 20 charges of impeachment against Paxton, who just earlier this week called on House Speaker Dade Phelan to resign due to apparent intoxication on the job.

Impeachment requires a majority vote in the House of Representatives. Should the House impeach Paxton, the issue would be sent to the Senate for a trial where he would be required to be convicted by two-thirds of the senators in order to be removed from office.

Rinaldi says it will be up to the Senate to stand against the impeachment.

“It seems Texas Republicans will have to rely yet again on the principled leadership of the Texas Senate to restore sanity and reason for our state,” said Rinaldi.

GOP needs to kick that arse out of the GOP. The speaker in Texas is the biggest RINO in the world. He makes Romney look MAGA.

Texas State Houses are starting to look a lot like GA State Houses.
Both run by RINOS and Liberals.

Paxton won the 2022 election than a larger margin than he won the first two elections.

I received & signed the petition (by text message) to oppose the impeachment of Paxton and to kick Phelan out of the statehouse.

Huh. Big effin’ deal.

The impeachment was literally being voted on—and it passed!— AS the petition was being sent out.

Republicans—even the ones supposedly on our side— are, at best, a bunch of lard-butts.

But hey! At least my voice was heard. /s

The voters in Texas need to take note of which state representatives voted in favor of this and then cull them ruthlessly in the next primary.

The GOP speaker is impossible to defeat in his district and then he scams his way in as a speaker by appealing to the democrats and a few RINOs to vote for him.

The GOP just needs to kick him out.

Rinaldi needs to put the blame on himself because apparently 70% of Repubs in Texas’ HOR are centrist. Senate may have a higher percentage. The session produced only low hanging fruit (Important but cynical compared to what was not done) based on tranny stuff, public displays of the 10 Commandments, tougher Marijuana laws (Don't know about that one). Tax and immigration reform fizzled out among some other fiscal issues.

In regards to Paxton, he is his own worst enemy where everyone is watching his every move. Nepotism with his affair partner, fired whistleblowers, already has a Federal Indictment hanging over him, Feds have just launched other Federal investigations, a donor who is singing like a canary (Along with Paxton’s side-chick). He basically has marginalized himself for not practicing what he preaches. People don”t realize how weak that makes you in the political realm, especially issues/ events he was pursuing. Yes his side have the cheerleaders but the enemies just point at his integrity and flick him off like a piece of lint.

“Leftists figure they can only capture offices by running as Republicans.”

And...when running in red states...they’d be correct.
