AUSTIN (KXAN) — A bill intended to end the discrimination of hairstyles associated with race was signed into law Sunday by Gov. Greg Abbott.
House Bill 567, better known as the CROWN Act, cleared its final hurdle on May 12 after it was passed by the Texas Senate 29-1. It was sent to Abbott’s desk on May 16 and he made it law with his signature on Sunday. It goes into effect on Sept. 1. It passed the Texas House 143-5 on April 12.
The CROWN Act is an acronym for Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair, and it prohibits school districts, colleges or universities, employers or labor unions to discriminate against any protected hairstyle as part of a dress code. In the bill, protected hairstyles are “braids, locks or twists.”

Congress already has anything goes hairstyle. Not professional but nobody does anything about it.
.....wellllll....does this mean that some fast-food outlet, having pretty strict rules regarding hair length for its workers, will now have to allow these same workers to come to work with dreadlocks or cornrows or whatever it is the minorities like to fashion hanging out from their hairnets or caps or whatever...? ....yes, disgusting....go ahead; chip away at businesses’ right to have clothing rules and standards...
Unbelievable. The invasion of illegals and all of the Demonic/RINO bullcrap that’s going on in the state, and Abbott signs law restricting hairstyles. Where’s the effort to faciltate the pardon for the man who protected himself from the BLM scum? Gutless, ball-less POS...
What is James Traficant’s opinion on this?
See, tolja Abbott has his priorities straight!
I had to work with an electrician in a factory where it was 100 degrees plus in the buildings. He had dreads down to his waist, which had to be put up in a bag on his head for safety reasons (getting caught in moving machinery). The awful stink made me gag. The sweat, oils, and filth was too much to take. I fully respect black hair issues for that community. It’s very difficult to manage, but some folks with nasty stinky dreads need to find a different look.
Dreadlocks. Don’t wash their hair. Long nasty fingernails, can’t do normal body hygiene. Marching into the future while falling back into primitive social norms.
Is this garbage OSHA approved? Seems like dreadlocks around conveyor systems is a recipe for disaster...
God made them dance good because He messed up their hair.
This legislation must have been a priority item with Speaker Dade Phelan, right? /mega-sarc
Congress is probably going to have to build the Donald J. Trump Memorial Fence to prevent Americans from fleeing south.
added protein at the butcher shop
How would you know that?
I worked w a black woman w what must have been 6-7 inch fake nails.
I wondered how one would be able to wipe their ass effectively with such things.
I’m glad to see they’ve got their priorities in order, down in Texas.
My neighbor is a roofing contractor.
He and a relative land contracts.
Teams of subcontractors do the roofing work.
In the 19th Century department stores had leased departments.
Wait until states and the feds codify the John Fetterman dress code for elected officials.
