The Texas House of Representatives has voted to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton, an unprecedented move following a legislative probe that faulted the third-term Republican for a yearslong pattern of corruption, including abusing his office’s powers, retaliating against whistleblowers and obstructing justice.
Under state law, Paxton is now temporarily suspended from his duties as attorney general and will await a Senate trial.
The vote was 121-23, with two members voting “present.”
“The evidence is substantial. It is alarming and unnerving,” said GOP Rep. Andrew Murr, chair of the General Investigating Committee, during his closing statement following hours of debate. The committee recommended 20 counts of impeachment against Paxton.
Democrat Rep. Harold Dutton was one of the members voting present. He said the impeachment vote had been rushed. “The process by which we’re getting this done seems to be abbreviated to the point that it just encroaches on due process,” said Dutton.

The Feds have been after Paxton for years, the RINOs still dominate the legislature and Paxton went after the House speaker (RINO) for being drunk on the job last week and thus, the "no notice" impeachment.
Pure retribution, simple as that.
Can anyone point to the yeas and neighs of this vote? I want to know how to vote when my state rep runs for reelection.
The left was humiliated when Paxton won so convincingly over George P Bush. They never. Have gotten over it.
No individual has worked so tirelessly for the state of Texas and our American Constitution than AG Ken Paxton.
Looks like the Bushies are getting their revenge.
Paxton was attacked right after he was elected Attorney General by the lids. Before he had done anything.
This is nothing but the continued lawfare against him.
Also, he files lawsuit after lawsuit against the biden admin.
That is why he is being targeted.
I was watching the hearing as it happened. The Chair went from closing comments to the vote so quickly, that I didn’t hear the exact numbers of the vote. The results of 121-23 was quite lop-sided for a House that is a 85 to 64 republican majority.
This was a colluded effort by the democrats and GOPe. Paxton has obviously stepped on someone’s toes and I suspect the final straw was when he first went after Pfizer, and then called out the House speaker for being obviously intoxicated while presiding over the House floor last week.
“Democrat Rep. Harold Dutton was one of the members voting present. He said the impeachment vote had been rushed. “The process by which we’re getting this done seems to be abbreviated to the point that it just encroaches on due process,” said Dutton.
When the DEMOCRAT is the sane one in the room, it looks as if Texas is in dire straits.”
I listened to Dutton speak. He was sincere, eloquent, and on point regarding the process. I first thought he was a republican until someone mentioned his name and I recalled that Dutton is a democrat. Easy mistake to make since he was making so much sense.
Where was the presentation of evidence to the citizens of the state of Texas?
This is a lynch mob headed by the Bush family.
Ken Paxton beat George P. Bush and the Bush family in the recent Texas election. That is his mortal sin.
What did Paxton do to deserve this? I have heard nothing of this.
I admit, that doesn’t look good does it.
Thank you for that short summary. It is my suspicion, but try getting any real information from the Internet on it.
Much appreciated, and much what I thought.
It seems most the GOP in the House voted against Paxton.
We need to see what they saw - the charges and the evidence supporting them.
The Dallas Mourning News has a red hot hatred for Paxton. Right after he was elected, they started running stories about conflicts of interest, insider trading and other white collar crimes against him. He had to start defending himself before he was sworn in. The Dallas paper is about as liberal as the Austin American Commissar.
Thanks to both of you. If you don’t live in that area, you either have to take it on faith from people that he is or is not guilty of crimes, given the way almost all search engines are so far Left leaning that it is nearly impossible to wade through it and sort facts from fiction.
In both LA and TX the state houses are run by a coalition of Democrats and moderate Republicans, who keep the conservatives at bay. Voters in both states seem unaware of all this.
The Swamp strikes again.
That is sad to hear. But in the context of Deep State-it fits.
Dammit.
