Anyways, I am a free speech absolutist. Once you allow someone, especially the government, to restrict speech, it will only lead to increasing forms of censorship. It might start with “hate” speech but that is really a trojan horse.
The problem is although the main proponents, especially on the left, damn well know where this will lead, I get a sense that many Americans are genuinely worried about other people’s feelings more than they are concerned about the slow road to censorship.
Yes and what about Jewish hate that comes out of much of the African American left? My guess they won’t do a damn thing about that. Only if you can fit the “far right” label will it be a concern.

That does raise a great point. Much of the civil rights activity in the 60s came from American Jews. Jews, foolishly, thought black America would have their backs.

That is true. The problem is we find ourselves appearing to side with some really nasty individuals. Some Americans just cannot get over that hump that we must defend the right of free speech of the worst or we are not defending it at all. That means a person has a right to claim the Holocaust did not happen. And I have met such people and its not a great look.

??? I think the point I was making was that it should be free speech. I am not a holocaust denier. I was just illustrating with I think most conservatives would agree with liberals on the worst of the worst sort of opinions. I actually attended a conference on free speech and listened to a fellow drone on about how Jews made the holocaust up. It was an uncomfortable feeling and I could tell others were also uncomfortable but something we had to deal with if we want to truly support free speech.

How about zero tolerance for theft, rape, murder, lying under oath,leaking to the press, gangs, selling drugs, organized crime, illegals crossing our borders...
