NH State Representative Rescinds DeSantis Endorsement, Announces Support for Trump

A New Hampshire state representative has rescinded her endorsement of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) in the race for the Republican presidential nomination and now supports former President Donald Trump.

State Rep. Sandra Panek (R) announced her decision to switch her support on Thursday following DeSantis’s campaign launch on Wednesday.

“After being less than impressed with Ron DeSantis’s official announcement last night, I am hereby switching my endorsement to President Donald J. Trump,” Panek said in a press release email from the Trump campaign. “We can’t expect someone to run the country if they can’t properly run their own campaign launch.”

“The stakes are simply too great in 2024 to take a chance on someone as unreliable as DeSantis — we need a proven winner like President Trump to take back the White House and Make America Great Again!” Panek added.

Her change of support follows New Hampshire State Rep Juliet Harvey-Bolia’s (R) decision on Wednesday to back Trump for the nomination after the pro-DeSantis super PAC, Never Back Down, claimed that she endorsed the Florida governor earlier this month. After the announcement was made, Harvey-Bolia clarified, “I’m endorsing both” Trump and DeSantis.

She is now endorsing only Trump:

After months of planning, this launch was supposed to be a big bump for DeSantis. Instead it gave reason for people to look at other candidates. Look at the big picture.

And I want to be impressed with a well staged affair why?? Trump was good...he showed us the way....but now...he should get out of the way. I'm tired of his blarney.

And I'm leaving FR...because apparently if you don't agree that Trump should be the ONLY CANDIDATE....something is wrong with you. It's been fun.

Really? You should stay. Disagreement is how interesting discussions develop. If every thread were an hallelujah chorus, it would get boring quickly. Heck - forget interesting. I came here for the politics, stayed for the comedy. This here is like Cheers, except the beer is cheaper.

No need to leave. Just take a break if you would like to, as I just did. There are probably more people here at FR that support DeSantis, they are just keeping their powder dry why the Trump wannabe's run their mouth. I truly believe the anti-Trump crowd will be vindicated in the end, one way or another.

After months of planning, this launch was supposed to be a big bump for DeSantis.

It was HUGE. According to two different news reports I heard today on TV, he broke the single day record for donations to a candidate on their announcement day, almost all of which were small donations. Apparently the one day haul from DeSantis equaled the first six weeks that Trump received after his announcement.

Money isn't of course everything, but the Twitter servers, now run by Elon Musk and not Jack Dorsey, getting overloaded also indicates tremendous interest in the DeSantis campaign for President.

All one has to do is view what just happened under the lens of if it had just happened to Trump, instead.

Had Trump just crashed Twitter due to overload and set the record for donations on announcement day, do you really think you would be here claiming it was a failure?

Of course not, get real!

And what was the best response Trump could muster? He tried to claim that Mario Coumo was better at handling Covid than DeSantis! How freaking ridiculous is that! Trump proved he is a total joke with a statement like that.

“she dumped DeSantis for the problems of Twitter?”

I didn’t see that. It could be because he didn’t appear in person, robotically read a lackluster speech, and only answered pre-screened questions from supporters and donors. So there’s that.

She said she was “less than impressed with RD’s official announcment”. Maybe she mentioned Twitter’s tech problems, but I didn’t see it.

That opus is sorry.

Anyhow, don’t leave. Where all of us have strong opinions on different issues, there are issues when we agree with each other. It’s better than being low-IQ RATS who blindly are in lock step with everyone else. Having opinions means that thinking is occurring.
