The Alexandria City, VA Council discussed what will go into three renamings per year for streets with Confederate references.

City staff presented the scope of the renaming process, which involves renaming three streets per year. There are 41 streets the city has confirmed are named for Confederate soldiers.

"The inventory of 41 Confederate street names includes major roads like Beauregard Street, Janney's Lane and Van Dorn Street, as well as neighborhood streets like Lee Street, Armistead Street, Calhoun Avenue and Davis Avenue. The city is researching other names like Stevenson Avenue, Reynolds Street and Hume Avenue to determine if they are associated with Confederate figures."

Exactly. I actually think these renamings should go further. Every single street, monument, building or other landmark that is named after a Democrat politician who was in office before 1965 should be renamed.

Alexandria is a very old town associated with our colonies and the Founding.

Too bad, that the Lees were a VERY prominent family of VA long before Robert Lee led the Confederacy, and basically ended the fame of the name.

Many of these others are likely NOT named for “Confederacy” but just for the prominence of people well before that.

These communist bastards know that, and this is a great way to erase and ignore ALL of our history. Which, BTW, is glorious and commendable.

Well, they have an area with names like Pickett, Pegram (divisional commanders), Owens, Naylor, Mansfield, Latham, Rutland, Pelham (artillery battery commanders) and others. They have a lot of work cut out for them.

These re-namers are simply miserable excuses for humans that need to be placed in stocks in the public square for about 30 days.

Racism and Slavery are Bad.

So bad that, after 150 years we can’t have statues of Confederates or have anything named for Confederates. Doesn’t matter what they did later in life, there can be NO pardon, no commutation, for ANY Racist person place, or thing. EVER. This is the Standard of the modern Liberal, and may never be disregarded or ignored. EVER.
Why then, does the Party of Slavery, Segregation, Jim Crow, the Ku Klux Klan, and Lynching (not rhetorical lynching of today but the actual murder committed by Racists), the party that fillibustered the Voting Rights Act for two days get a Pass? Why is the Democrat Party allowed to exist? What special mitigating circumstances cleanse the hundreds of years of Slavery, Segregation, and Terrorism perpetrated by the Democrat Party?
