I interpreted what he did there as signaling a “truce”.
I don’t agree with him doing this. I think it was a “Ok we’ll drop the ‘Put her in jail!’ thing and you’ll reciprocate with just normal partisan opposition.”

They didn’t and never intended to!

Trump was very very naive here. Just because they were nice to him previously at “parties” he thought he connected with them. He didn’t they only wanted to “connect” with his money! This where his vaunted “deal making” acumen gets him in trouble. You can’t make a deal where one side demands complete surrender! That’s not a deal, that’s capitulation!
Their side demands capitulation! There is no common ground for a deal!

And you would never get him through confirmation.

Lots of turnover.

And yet, those 4 years were a breath of fresh air from the Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama era that we have back because of a stolen election..

Trump infiltrated a swamp.
Trump didn’t own it or a piece of it..
The swamp is not an R vs D construct anymore.

It was shown to be MAGA and America First vs R and D Swamp

Something that MAGA voters understand.
Your mileage obviously varies

Yes, Trump tried to make a truce so he could negotiate with them.

But they kept on trying to destroy him

Then the Wuhan Flu hit and Trump turned the nation over the same Deep State that was trying to destroy him.

No sign of learning his lesson.

Is Trump gonna defend his boy, Chris Wray?

Trump should have fired Wray after the Mueller report.

You can throw pence in there for that matter.

Finally, a conservative with the guts to fire Wray. The amount of damage this FIB swamp creature has done and continues to do is shameful.

Needs to fire the top 50% or more, then disperse the rest into other agencies.

More revisionist history. The “bad hires” argument is based on hindsight & disingenuousness, as Trump was new to D.C. and had to depend on the GOP’s recommendations for his appointees, which btw, Ron DeSantis was very happy with and praised and pushed for at the time. Examples: Wray above and Barr below. As for Fauci, revisionist history again, Fauci didn't play the role that he played in the Biden admin with all of the shutdowns and mandates. DeSantis was practicing Fauciism 6 months after Trump left office.

Late June, 2020. #DeSantis threatening businesses, restaurants & bars if they don't obey his mask & social distancing rules. Trump, 2 months before, had already called for reopening. https://t.co/pmBQhiUy8g— Robert Barnes (@barnes_law) March 29, 2023

I remember seeing Peter Navarro on Newsmax stating he literally begged Trump to fire faucci early on during covid and Trump flatly refused.

Navarro said he had no idea why.

The potus has the final decision.....which makes it the POTUS ultimate responsibility.

MAGA is sadly degenerating into the caricature the Democrats always tried to portray of them.

They have alienated a lot of people who twice voted for Trump, but dare question the wisdom of running a 78 year old undisciplined, erratic, lame duck three-time-loser with their steady stream of lies and personality cult weirdness.

The Trump paid influencers on Twitter are the absolute dregs. They are a running joke and no decent person would want to be associated with them

To paraphrase another poster, Trump has learned the hard way not to trust anybody. Ron has been in Congress and politics a long time, but appears to still be ignorant about who to trust, Elon Musk and Jeff Roe.

An empty comment unless the new one’s first job is to jail the previous. Lacking that, prattle on.
