A 54-year-old engineer from Illinois who traveled about 300 miles to meet who he was thought as a 14-year-old girl for sex was sentenced this week to a year in prison.
Brian K. Arflack was sentenced Tuesday by Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Dennis Adkins to 12 months in prison on each charge of importuning and possession of criminal tools, to which Arflack pleaded guilty April 11. The sentences are to be served concurrently, according to court records.
Arflack was one of several March 29 arrests involving a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office task force sting joined by television journalist Chris Hansen and his show “Takedown with Chris Hansen.”
The third episode of the fourth season, available for streaming on TruBlu, centers on Arflack of Willowbrook, Illinois, in suburban Chicago. He drove about 4½ hours to Vandalia near Dayton to the house used for the task force sting dubbed “Operation Intercept.”
When Arflack stepped inside the house and into the living room, he was handcuffed and interviewed by detectives.

Any show that destroys pedos and groomers lives is a great show.
That’s all? 1 year?
Where's the pedo charges?
I'm always amazed that there are still stories about these kinds of fools out there who actually think that they're going to hook up with an underage girl they met on the internet.
Under the U.S. Constitution, a person accused of a crime has the right to confront and question his accuser in court. Charging someone with soliciting a minor when the “accuser” is an adult police officer is a travesty of justice.
You are officially on my sht list. congrats, you beat out doodledummie and dfwshthead for the #1 spot.
That's easy. The perp allegedly, as in innocent until proven guilty, took action to meet a minor for sex. The fact that he landed on the wrong account and ended up meeting a police officer is beside the point.
Think about it. Do you think sex offenders are shopping for new gadgets at Amazon, and through some innocent mistake end up at forums trying to hookup with minors instead? No, they are actively searching for a hookup with minors. That is what they are being charged with.
Just think - if you have that way of thinking, we could be seeing you at the next Chris Hansen special.
” The perp allegedly, as in innocent until proven guilty,”
Negative. If you were innocent, they would never arrest you.
“Presumed innocent in a court of law” is the standard
Think of it as conspiracy to commit a crime.
I’ll tell you this: the same police state mentality at work in these cases is exactly what makes prosecutors so comfortable in charging a bunch of rowdy protestors at the U.S. Capitol with “seditious conspiracy” and other idiotic crimes.
Suppose one of the defendants in these cases goes to trial. And suppose he testifies in his own defense. Imagine this line of questioning:
QUESTION: “Mr. Predator, is it true that you spent six weeks engaging in online conversations with a 14 year-old girl and eventually arranged to meet her for a sexual encounter?”
ANSWER: “No, I spent six weeks engaging in online conversations with a 35 year-old man who was pretending to be a 14 year-old girl.”
Just try to fathom how that would play out in court … and how you could ever get a conviction based on the FACTS of the case.
Agents of The State are allowed to lie to you. They're encourage to do it and are rewarded for it.
Lying to them, however, is a felony.
Never forget ...
Good advice.
A conspiracy charge requires a minimum of two perpetrators.
Your point is a good one... a crime with a fictional victim is a stretch.
