Donald Trump threw his hands in the air in fury during a virtual appearance in a Manhattan court on Tuesday as a judge scheduled the Stormy Daniels 'hush money' criminal trial for March 25, 2024.
It means the former president will be in a Manhattan courtroom for weeks in the middle of the Republican primaries and just months before the presidential election.
The court day lies just weeks after the 'Super Tuesday' primaries set for March 5, and days after Florida's March 19 contest that will pit Trump against Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Trump, 76, scowled into the camera during a Zoom appearance as Judge Juan Merchan told him to cancel all commitments during the trial and put a protective order in place banning him from sharing evidence in public.
He made the appearance as it was revealed his main rival in the GOP race, DeSantis, would formally announce he is running for President in a Twitter Spaces on Wednesday night.
A visibly-irritated Trump, wearing a blue suit against a backdrop of American flags at his Mar-a-Lago estate, turned to his lawyer during the appearance
'President Trump is running for President of the United States and is the leading contender,' his attorney Todd Blanche told the judge. 'He is very much concerned that his 1st Amendment rights are being violated.'
The charges are related to a $30,000 payoff to a doorman trying to sell information about a child that Trump allegedly fathered out of wedlock; $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, and a $130,000 payment to Daniels.
Trump had pleaded not guilty last month to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records at his family company, the Trump Organization.

I am still trying to figure out the “crime” besides just being Trump that was committed.
Just another democrat politician in a black robe — and corrupt as hell.
At this point one is tempted to quote a certain Clinton (female) who infamously said, “what does it matter?”
One of two things happened, either Stormy Daniels banged Trump, or she didn’t and now feels scorned and wants revenge.
If she banged Trump (and he refuses to acknowledge this fact) then the relevant question is, do you prefer to live under Democrat chaos and debauchery, or do you think things would be better despite the fact that a liar who once banged a tramp is in charge?
If there was no sex then there is even less to decide the same question.
In either case it’s a no brainer, even if Trump banged ten women a day in 2006 or whenever this took place (if it did), we are all far better off than under any Democrat no matter what their sexual history (and as we know quite often that is nothing to brag about).
Trump might be well served to say, you know what, my memory may not be perfect, I don’t recall sleeping with this woman, but maybe I did, she was no doubt quite attractive twenty years ago. Maybe that would satisfy everyone and we could move on from what is surely the most tedious and irrelevant issue ever to arise in national politics.

Nope.
desanti has shown he's willing to deliberately lie to people, deceive them with his intent to run for president, and willing to break FEC regulations in converting his $85-100 million state level campaign fund, into money for his presidential run.
He's also being supported and endorsed by swampy GOPe rinos.
It's the swampy GOPe rinos that colluded and co-operated with the left, to throw the election in 2020, that put the dems in power today.
Why would anyone want to continue supporting that, and want desantis for president?
No matter *who* you are *NEVER* piss off the judge.
Key primary weeks we will get to hear testimony from Stormy. Nice, salacious, gross, detailed testimony about Trumps time with a porn star.
It’s no wonder the sharks are all getting in the water now.
In most jurisdictions, the IS a speedy trial. I was on a grand jury last summer and most of those cases won’t go to trial until the last quarter of this year at the earliest.
Can’t take photos in the court room.
Stewart and Flynn are great examples of why you never talk to the police. You cannot do anything but get yourself in trouble.
Call your lawyer, accept the cop’s offer for a Coke, and sit there until the lawyer comes.
“Some might call this “election interference.”
Others might call it “deprivation of rights under color of law,” punishable by fines and prison time.”
What’s a little “more” election interference....when you’ve already gotten away with high treason, stealing an election, persecuting and prosecuting your main opposition and imprisoning many of his supporters without due process....
in addition to basically upending the entire US Constitution with no real pushback or resistance from your political opponents.
Turn the trial into an election circus. That’s all it is, but Bragg wants Trump to perform tricks for him. He should perform very different tricks.
All the more reason to vote trump
So, the judge is playing politics at the behest of the Democrat Pary.
“Trump has all the right enemies, DeSantis has all the wrong friends”.
The problem with this presumption is that Trump’s enemies comprise a majority of the electorate, especially in the swing states. As recently as 2022, the voters took a look at what Trump was selling and said “no thanks”. If his appeal was so widespread, today we would have Senators Blake Masters, Mehmet Oz, and Adam Laxalt, along with Governors Tudor Dixon and David Perdue. (All swing state candidates).
In late 2022, Merchan oversaw the five-week criminal trial of the Trump Organization; the organization was convicted of 17 counts of tax fraud.[14]
He also presided over the criminal case of Donald Trump’s former financial chief Allen Weisselberg, who pleaded guilty to his role in a 15-year-long tax-fraud scheme.[15][16] Weisselberg admitted to evading taxes by accepting $1.7 million in off-the-books compensation and entered a plea agreement, in which he testified against The Trump Organization and helped to secure the company’s conviction.[17] Merchan sentenced Weisselberg to five months at Rikers Island and said he would have imposed a substantially longer sentence but for the plea agreement.[16]
Merchan is the judge assigned to preside over the criminal trial of Steve Bannon, a former Trump adviser who was indicted in September 2022 on charges of fraud and money laundering in connection with a fundraising scheme. The case is set for trial in November 2023.
He is the de-facto Cabal judge to oversee crooked court cases against Trump.
Don’t do the crime if you don’t have the time.

It NEEDS to be said. You are a f’ing idiot.
Now carry on being one.
Writ of Certiorari should already be on the desk of all nine justices. This is blatant interference in federal elections by a local state judge and prosecutor.
