I love SDR. A cheap $35 dongle attached to my Linux box is very versatile. I can listen to any broadcast that has appropriate software support. AM/FM radio...dirt simple. The Accurite weather instruments on 433 MHz...dirt simple. ADSB on aircraft....dirt simple. Most of the SDR software is written in Python.
