Actually if this had been done as a movie it would have been criticized as far fetched. The entire UD Govt involved? No prosecutions? Critics would have laughed it away.

Steele never did verify his claims and never got the $1 million, because the information Steele had was 100%
unverifiable 2nd and 3rd party hearsay and very likely intentional Russian misinformation.
Such payment offers are not uncommon in FBI history, particularly when the information is believed to originate in a foreign country and could be a national security matter.
Let’s imagine the information was not about Trump, but was about Joe Biden. If the information proved to be true, would such an FBI offer be legitimate and right???
