Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Russian forces do not occupy Bakhmut, despite Moscow’s assertions that the city had been taken.
“Bakhmut is not occupied by the Russian Federation as of today,” Zelensky said in response to a reporter’s question at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Japan.

I don’t believe anything about this war. I believe that there may be some fighting and explosions and casualties but beyond that, everything is propaganda for one side or the other. If our rulers didn’t have their corrupt financial interests in the conflict, we might have had some chance to get the objective truth of the story. As it is, everything is fog of war. I don’t even try to find out what is going on, I just want not to be forced to support a side. If Congress declares war, that will change.

Earlier in the day When asked if the city was in Ukraine’s hands, Zelenskyy said: “I think no, but you have to — to understand that there is nothing, They’ve destroyed everything. There are no buildings. It’s a pity. It’s tragedy.”
“But, for today, Bakhmut is only in our hearts.”
That admission of defeat must not have made his master’s happy.
