Former President Trump claimed Tuesday that his potential future administration would reach a deal on abortion that "the whole country" would be okay with.
"Now DeSantis, or Ron DeSanctimonious as I call him, he came out with the six weeks. Other people agree with it. And a lot of people don't," Trump said in an interview with Newsmax. "We're in a position now – and I'm going to be leading the charge – we're in the position now where we can get something that the whole country can agree with, and that's only because I got us out of the Roe v. Wade where the pro-life people had absolutely nothing to say."
When pressed further, the GOP presidential candidate asserted that he is in a "very powerful negotiating position" following the reversal of Roe v. Wade, echoing previous statements when asked about his beliefs. . .

The argument is not about abortion. It’s about birth control. A woman who needs to know abortion is an option is a woman who lives a lifestyle dependent on birth control. She and her abortion dependent partner, the male, need abortion.
Many such people are on the right
That said, it seems trump can say the issue is up to the states and let it go.

I thought SCOTUS just threw the issue back to the states. Why get the Fed involved again?

That's my point. It's just politics.
What I predict is that Trump will say the same thing about gun control and an assault weapons ban.....he can find a position that the whole country can agree with.
No way will the left agree to anything but “no restriction abortions”- how’s he gonna get them to approve whatever he is selling on the issue?
Personally I love the fact that President Trump is a master negotiator. You have to admit we have better deals now on NAFTA, tariffs, Iran, TPP and EU members paying their share than we did before.
Those are things that every POTUS should negotiate and Trump, being America First, negotiated good deals for this nation with foreign partners.
But I don't want Trump negotiating a middle ground on abortion, firearm rights, etc.

Wait until the next election cycle when the State legislators who voted for six weeks or no abortions are up for re-election.
The Supreme court has ruled it is up to the states to decide. So dies that mean any federal law pertaining to abortion would be deemed illegal?

Right. We should elect people who only care about re-election and have no core principles.
As I will as well but Trump wants to brawl and plays into the Democrats hands.
Did he actually state what HIS position would be?
The problem in that kind of stance is he ends up with a lot of feel-good points, but nothing to hold him responsible. Once elected, he is a lame duck and doesn’t feel compelled to do anything.
Trump also told us many many times. “China will pay the tariffs”
