A blank-check legislation signed into law in 2001 has allowed the Pentagon to launch more than 40 military interventions in at least 22 countries without congressional approval
A new study from the Costs of War project at Brown University’s Watson Institute estimates that over 4.5 million people have died from wars launched by the west in the aftermath of the 11 September 2001 attacks.
The study estimates that between 906,000 to 937,000 people have been killed as a direct result of wars in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Libya, and Somalia.
These countries have experienced the most violent wars in which the US government has been involved in the name of counterterrorism since 2001,” the report highlights.
Moreover, 3.6 million people are estimated to have died indirectly from the effects of western wars, including economic collapse, food insecurity, destruction of public health facilities, environmental contamination, and recurring violence.

1/6 General Wesley Clark “We’re going to take-out 7 countries in 5 years.”
“...starting with Iraq, then Syria and Lebanon, then Libya, Somalia, Sudan, then back to Iran.”
Looks like the pace on this has slowed considerably, but someone has their talons in the establishment, be it establishment neocons or establishment neoliberals.

“...his [Buden’s] predecessor, Donald Trump, removed them in 2020...”
NATO expansion took place from 1991 on, then there was the invasion of Iraq where NATO was involved under WMD lies. Are people against that or are they Bush Bot Neocons?
NATO illegally expanded to the point of breaking its defensive charter against Libya on unproven allegations that Gaddafi was going to attack 10k of his own people.
3rd, all moral arguments against Russia have to also apply to NATO/US or one is amoral or immoral.
4th, before all of this, it was said to me here:
“It is not NATO that is seeking to expand into Ukraine, but Ukraine that is seeking to join NATO.”
My reply: “That’s a cop out answer as mo one forces NATO to accept anyone and accepting them is expansionism.”
Replies to me: 1.) No one tells them who they can’t accept either, Russia doesn’t rule the world, not even Europe.
2.) NATO did not accept Ukraine membership.
My reply: Then others will say no one tells Russia what to do, and thus people saying “No one tells them who they can’t accept either, Russia doesn’t rule the world, not even Europe” are escalating things when we need both Russia to withdraw and NATO to go back to its original 1949 size.
Anything else furthers aggression from both sides leading to more bloodshed, possibly WW3.
We can’t have anyone expanding anymore, the days of empires are over.
up to 4.5 million now!
I said from the start of the war, nuke fallujah at the start of the war all those years ago (just after they hung our soldiers bodies from the bridge and all the terrorists were holded up there)
Many called me nuts, but I argued then and I attest now that doing that then would of SAVED millions of lives and trillions of dollars.
Because the terrorists would of known we meant business, and would of immediately lined up in lines 100 miles long to surrender.
Instead in order to save a few hundred thousand lives in one city all these years later 4.5 million have died.
DOD and State are now, “The department of Defense Contractors.”
Iraq was easy to justify do to its continuing violations of the truce which ended the First Gulf War. It only happened after 9/11 because Bill Clinton allowed the violations to continue without any meaningful action to stop them.
Notice that Sec. State Halfbright didn’t dispute then and there 500k Iraqi children killed.
And that’s just for Iraq, not counting adults in Iraq, not counting the other countries, not counting starvation and famine, etc, later on in all the countries affected.
But then there’s the Serbs bombed under NATO involvement, under Clinton, in which NATO went against it’s defensive charter; the Serbs didn’t attack a NATO member.
Always wondered how much the Muslims bribed Clinton to attack Serbia.
Islamic extremists killed many more, esp. women and children in the name of Muslim law. So the article is incomplete without that included.
If you are going to write a racist piece, get all the facts. How many Soldiers of all colors, faiths, and genders did we lose?

Oh, and I didn’t write the article, genius.
I have come 180 degrees on 9/11.
I now have no doubt it was an inside job, and the controlled implosion of building seven is absolute proof.

Whatever one's stance and political bent may be, the "more than 40 military interventions" are being considered by non-Americans (i.e. 96 percent of the world's population) and if and/or when they conclude that our United States has been as "interventionist" as it surely seems to have been (CIA-backed coups to color revolutions and all), we will not be the heroes in history. I pray we can settle in to a new role, without "interventions" that go so consistently boom and bang, to the delight of the war department which likes to call itself the DoD.
From Eisenhower's farewell: "Throughout America's adventure in free government, our basic purposes have been to keep the peace; to foster progress in human achievement, and to enhance liberty, dignity and integrity among people and among nations. To strive for less would be unworthy of a free and religious people. Any failure traceable to arrogance, or our lack of comprehension or readiness to sacrifice would inflict upon us grievous hurt both at home and abroad."
My personal fear for these United States is that we have been "grievously hurt both at home and abroad" by these "more than 40 military interventions in at least 22 countries without congressional approval." Ike's warning was dismissed, and the clown show has only escalated in the Obama-Biden third term, politics as usual and what Durham's report has stated in detail, edemic corruption.
Not to mention all the hatred against the US we have sewed around the world. It will go on for generations. Started with the The Gulf War.
Kosovo was even more damaging.
Thanks GWB. 6 trillion for nothing, attacking people who didn’t have anything to do with 9/11
