San Fransicko and New York are going to be the hardest hit but this is a trend that will spread to cities nationwide. People are simply not ever going to return to the office now that they’ve seen they don’t have to. Big expensive cities are in big trouble.
Which tells you they are not 1/3rd vacant but 2/3rds vacant. ie companies are still locked into long term leases of office space they haven’t been able to get out of yet. But given that the workforce simply is not showing up, you can count on another 1/3rd of that office space to become vacant as long term leases expire. So the vacancy rate will double.

I think that’s a sure thing. And not just San Francisco. A lot of big cities are going in that direction. Portland, for one. The age of cities seems to be ending — they don’t serve much purpose other than to warehouse ferals. And ferals destroy things.
Most city cores are going through the same thing. Huge vacancy. Crappy economy doesn’t help.
