Exactly. The agencies do nothing but break rules all day long but somehow they’d never dare break the “debt ceiling” law? How about the don’t interfere in elections law? How about the don’t spy on your countrymen law? Breaking laws is that the bureaucracy does.
The Republicans in the House have only the Constitutional power of the purse, and we will use the tool the Constitution provides wisely and to the best of our ability.
The Democrats could have avoided the issue by increasing the debt authorization amount back in 2021, but they chose to play politics instead.
Not losing sleep over the theatrics. Brandon clowning with umbrella in Japan.
.
They’re taking us all the way back to 2022 Spending Levels!
Oh, the Horrors.
As usual, the Media is hiding the real issue.
I said about 10 democrats go go along. Or is it 15?
I’m guessing “Brandon” is coming home early not due to the “debt crisis”, but because his handlers are aware that the jet lag, and the “arduous” schedule will be too much for him. For those that may not have seen it, he damn near face planted while attempting to walk down a short flight of stairs (I believe) in Hiroshima this morning. He was also spotted with another one of his prepared lists of talking points. Anyone that believes this guy has anything productive to add to the conversation concerning our national debt is just as much of a mental deficient as he is.
Dems will pinky swear to cuts and reductions next time, promise
Democrats promised their voters an annual raise in their Federal stipends - and can’t accept any budget deal that won’t allow for it.
They also have 87,000 new IRS agents that need to be included...
If it makes Bidens desk it will be reluctantly signed.
People think the gop will cave.
First, the MAGA/Freedom Caucus has a four-foot iron colon buster poised behind McCarthy if he blinks wrong.
Second, the House has the advantage because they drew an actual plan and threw it on the table first. Joe and Chuck have nothing. Third, Joe is showing weakness leaving town and refusing to talk. He doesn’t have the brain cells.
Fourth, the press is catching their breath after the final Durham report. They lost a ton of traction selling the Russia hoax.

McCarthy so far has done a good job. They are not caving on this.
Republicans should schedule the order of how payments will work. Let the rats complain.
Many government projects require passage of two parallel but separate Congressional paths to realize. One stating what they want done, and the other, via separate bills, deals and committees to provide the funding to pay for it. Congress has approved many (promises) ‘projects’ which sit unfilled until same or future Congress either finally fund them or formally cancel them. Debt ceiling provides a third path. If promise bills have been signed and funding bills signed, you can spend for that project if and only if that revenue has already been collected or you have the authority to borrow the funds. If funds via collected revenue plus borrowing authority are less than total promises made then promises spent shrinks by the difference. For which promises shrink or flatly break, see first the above standing rules and next whatever executive branch discretion they provide Joe et al. Don’t blame us! We said Joe could borrow a $T+ more to fund stuff he ranks as important so long as he agrees to cancel a bunch of promises we (and overwhelmingly the public) thing should be broken. Don’t to sign our deal, fine then Joe gets to choose spending cuts for for ever $ he’d have to have made under our bill, plus an additional $T+ he wouldn’t have had to cut had he taken the borrowing we’d offered. BTW, Joe vetoes House + Senate deal here produces same result as no deal made. Veto can’t save Joe from this. He’s either going to have to formally cancel some promises or semi-arbitrarily pick certain Dem grift groups over others. Smarter (≠ smart) extremists on his side recognize this and want to redefine the word “debt” in the 14th to avoid the choice. I think that’s a lie too far and would be perceived as a sign of weakness even by most lay democrats.
Freedom Caucus folks have been burned many times in the past and learned from it. They’ve instructed McCarthy well and he’s playing their cards well. Even the usual RINOs, in both houses, who traditionally have backstabbed good plans are firmly onboard. The weak links, looking at the next election cycle, are all on Joe’s side.
They think they have a mandate for the green new steal. Try reasoning with lunatics.
