Women are at least twice as likely as men to be injured in Army basic training, according to data collected over six years by the service.
Most of those injuries were musculoskeletal -- meaning they affect the bones, muscles, joints and tendons of female recruits. Military.com obtained the injury data as the Army is looking for ways to boost recovery for men and women moving through boot camp.
During 2022, nearly 30% of female recruits were injured on average each month during Army basic training. The average was 23% per month between 2017 and 2022, the data shows. During those years, about 12% of male recruits were injured each month.
The gap between male and female injuries in Army basic training isn't unique to the military.
Female athletes are also typically more prone to injury compared to their male counterparts, with women being more likely to receive bone and knee ligament injuries and stress fractures, according to a 2018 study published in the Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation medical journal. Part of that is due to women having smaller bones and less muscle mass.

Women are going to bleed the military budgets dry, not only with their female and mom stuff on base, but with the disability pensions, and they will just take over the VA hospitals.
Not only that, testosterone does more than make muscle. It makes you aggressive.
I was thinking about nurses and whatnot, something away from the frontlines. I mean I’m sure there’s some competent and capable women who can do many things, but keep them out of combat. Men are suppose to be the protectors of women. That’s just the natural order of things. What kind of man would want to send the ordinary woman into combat. They must hate women or something.

Absolutely. And that dose of testosterone does matter. Combat veterans I have known are aghast at the concept of women in combat. And it isn’t because women aren’t smart or capable in a variety of aspects. It isn’t sexist or misogynistic in origin or nature.
It is that in combat, the margin for success or failure, living or dying is razor thin.
And it isn’t just that the female next to you might get killed or incapacitated, it increases your chances of suffering the same fate, both of which endanger the mission.

Looking back on my Airborne days in the 70’s, when woman were ( as an experiment) allowed to go to Airborne training at Ft Bennington, resulted in the large majority taking 5 up to 8 weeks to “ graduate “. Their wash out rate was appalling, 3 weeks for men’s graduation and wings- 5-8 weeks for those few ( very few) woman that would not quit…..
I have to admit, I have never thought for a second about that aspect of things. But that has to be true.
Now image a 120lb female soldier tying to do that or humping 70 lb tank rounds.
The whole thing is ludicrous.
yup, enlist, stay unmarried, squeeze out kids and the govt will pay for the birthing, medical care, childcare and give you extra cash.

Unless you're female. You can still claim integrity despite your Physical Fitness Test (PFT) being far easier than that of your male counterparts.

No thank you. It’s informative posts like yours being the reason I come to Free Republic. I like to learn something new every day and there’s a lot of posters here who know way more about these various political subjects than I do and I learn from them every day. It’s kind off how I justify my wasting so much time on the internet lol. I say to myself well at least I’m learning something new if nothing else.

The sad truth- my strong young Christian man no longer has any desire to enlist in our military. Sacrificing for an immoral, godless, senile old man sitting in the White House has consequences.
