5th-grade teacher from Florida is under investigation after showing children a pro-LGBT Disney movie. The elementary instructor then went on to CNN to attack school administrators and concerned parents, ranting, “Your rights as a parent, those rights are gone when your child is in the public school system.”
The Disney movie, “Strange World,” centers on two homosexual men, and its showing exists in a grey area of Florida’s new parent’s rights legislation, dubbed “Don’t Say Gay” by the left.
The instructor claimed to have received parental permission, though she allegedly only asked parents to approve a “PG” movie, with the movie’s name notably missing from the permission slip.
Responding to a parent complaint, the school board and administrators quickly prevented the teacher, Jenna Barbee, from putting ideological pressure on children per DeSantis’s regulations on gender/sex education for youths.

An apology has not been on Barbee’s agenda.
The disgraced teacher defended her actions, saying it tied into a lesson on “environment and ecosystems.” Barbee has gone to her local school board meeting and a series of TV interviews to attack the investigation against her. She even mentioned the faith of one of the school board members in her remarks, saying
“A school board member, an elected official of power, who was supposed to be nonpartisan, is allowed to present to the public that she is Christian and that God appointed her to the board. And yet it is indoctrinated that I showed a Disney movie. I’m a first-year teacher.”
The school board member and complaint-filing parent, Shannon Rodriguez, responded to Barbee’s remarks and slammed her for “imposing” her beliefs on children.
“It is not a teacher’s job to impose their beliefs upon a child: religious, sexual orientation, gender identity, any of the above. But allowing movies such as this assist teachers in opening a door, and please hear me, they assist teachers in opening a door for conversations that have no place in our classrooms. As a leader in this community, I’m not going to stand by and allow this minority to infiltrate our schools … God did put me here.”
In TV interviews, Barbee has called parents “ignorant” for not understanding the need to play pro-LGBT Disney movies in class.

If the teacher is found to have shown the children “non-age-appropriate” content relating to gender, then Barbee will likely lose her teaching license.
Parents and onlookers have slammed Barbee for not just showing the movie, but for the “excuses” she gave on TV interviews for her behavior.
“No one is asking this teacher to shut down every conversation a child has. What is being asked is to not spark these conversations for 10 year olds by exposing them to movies with gay subject matter.” ~@AdamInHTownTX on Twitter
The Florida State Department of Education is still in the midst of its investigation and will be arriving at the school today to ask witnesses about the event.
what county in Florida did this happen?
“Your rights as a parent, those rights are gone when your child is in the public school system.”
But, but, but . . . conservatives spend too much time fighting cultural issues.
The teacher is right.
When the kids walk into the school, the state owns them for the next eight hours.
Parents are slow to get that.

Due west of Orlando.
What happened to the idea that children must never keep secrets? During the 1990s children were told to tell when anyone coerced them to keep secrets from their parents because that was a tactic of pedophiles.
We have a nation of pedophiles disguised as teachers and “helpers” doing the worst thing possible by coercing children just as a predator would do.
Why do all these leftist teachers look fat and ugly and have weird colored hair? NEA requirement?
thank you
Let’s just back up a minute. Why is any teacher showing films in school? Are they too tired to teach? When I was in school we got to see these boring film strips and rarely an Apollo mission on TV - the TV was in the gym and the whole school gathered to watch it. Considering reading and math proficiency levels at most schools, the teachers shouldn’t be sparing a single moment on that teaching thing. There no room for films with or without faggots in them.
Quite my career as an eye surgeon to be a mom.
Will never regret that.
Got one kid who will soon be a doc and another who has a PhD in AI who just wrote a paper that A.I. has to demand moral standards.
Like that.
She is making her case worse and worse every time she gets on another one of these interviews to complain and slander the parents. This is serving as a warning for any potential employer. Do you really want to unleash this Problem Bucket onto your students and your staff? She’s everything you don’t want from an employee, self centered, vindictive, condescending and profane.
At 83, I am beyond grateful that I went to a ONE ROOM SCHOOL.
It’s been a common thing to show films in school during this tail end of the school year.
In April, many schools had their Sat Tests, followed by several final exams. Some teachers figure the kids need a light schedule, if they ‘earned it’ in the last quarter by showing good behavior. I used to work as part time Teacher’s Aide from 2001 to about 2007.
Sounds like a major lack of rigor.
Every time I see this s***, I am worried for my nieces and nephews with grade school kids. They aren’t that far from these counties. You know it’s coming, if it isn’t already there.
Some of the good Chartered schools are more structured, and continue usual assigments at least until a week after Memorial Day. By the time the first week of June is done, most minds are no longer on school, except for some Seniors who will need to go to Summer School in order to graduate with their friends.
“a lesson on environment and ecosystems.”
“Let’s check out their environment of your poop chute and the gut flora ecosystem.”
Make sense to me.
“Why is any teacher showing films in school?”
I think half of instruction in all classes is films these days. How else can the teacher catch up on the latest on Tiktok?

Thought you loons were against slavery.
?
Spit.
This is INSANE!
I work for a middle school in a different county!
When I’ve played movie for kids from my own Amazon account, I’ve only been allowed (by my admins) to play G-rated ones — so Diary of a Whimpy Kid, and the Scooby Doo ones.
I can’t even play my Jurassic Park films because they’re pg-13. I am verboten from playing anything controversial or that could get parents angry — and I’m fine with that.
Although I’d rather show them the first Jurassic Park film.
