Yes long ago I noticed this ludicrous equation of “public insults” with “toughness”. Being a nasty man publicly insulting others does not make one tough. Our side? He's going to need more than "our side" if he wants to return to the White House. He's going to need to rally the independents and swing voters who don't post on Free Republic. These are the people who loath him. Of course, they loathed him in 2016. They just loathed Hillary more.

The MAGA base loves Trump, warts and all. He doesn't have to worry about getting their votes.

Of course, I'm old enough to remember when committing adultery, hosting gay parties, banning guns, and spending trillions of dollars in government handouts was frowned upon in conservative circles but maybe that's just me. Times have changed, I suppose, and with it, the definition of "conservative" seems to have changed as well.
