Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo campaigned on a pledge to protect the Second Amendment rights of Nevada residents, and the former Clark County sheriff delivered on his word on Wednesday by whipping out his veto pen and rejecting three bills approved by the Democrat-controlled legislature. Even more deliciously, Lombardo’s move came just hours before anti-gun groups had scheduled a press conference designed to pressure the governor to adopt the new restrictions.
In his veto message, Lombardo said that he could not support any legislation that infringes on the rights of Nevada gun owners, adding that “much of the legislation I vetoed today is in direct conflict with legal precedent and established constitutional protections.”
He’s not wrong. The three bills that were sent to his desk would have weakened the Second Amendment’s protections for gun owners, while failing to address the underlying issues driving the state’s violent crime.

Savage 110 hunter (msrp $850), or Savage AXIS 11’(msrp $479)?
Thank you for any insight offered
Since he did that they go back to the majority controlled nevaDUH senate for a possible over-ride. As I recall, had he let them smolder on his desk they would have been moot. Not sure how this will go. But a pretty good idea how.
Obviously the Axis II is a more basic rifle, but will get the job done for most people. The 110 has a heavier barrel and nicer/adjustable stock.
Looks like either can be purchased with or without a scope. You can easily spend more on a high end scope than on the rifle.
It’s hard to go wrong with any Savage rifle. I have a 110 Predator Max that is very accurate, with a 3x12 Nikon 223 on it (designed for .223 55 grain boat tail bullets, so very littl, but that’s another story.e guesswork involved if you have a rangefinder). Also a minty 1938 Savage 99 takedown
Sending my current optics to Leopold for factory service. It’s 22 years old and may have outclassed,.as.evidenced by a lack of clarity. VX III 3.5-10 MIL DOT 40mm. Great that they stand firmly behind their products. Will completely disassemble and rebuild.
It’s been a habit to spend more on the optics + mounts than upon what it is mounted and don’t want to spend for the tactical models as I just plink and may have fun with 200yd competitions.
I think I’ll go with the 110, because of the heavier barrel. Thank you very much

Like that takedown!
While I do have a reasonable range finder, the MILDOT is quick with that. Yours is the second to endorse a 110. I’ll move in that direction.
Thank you much.

Man, did my wireless keyboard butcher my post. The 110 is a great rifle.
All good. I knew what was posted. Nikon are good
Unfortunately Nikon got out of the scope business. I also have one of their golf rangefinders because I used to set sporting clay targets for a (sort of) living.
