But the demand increases during the build (remember chip factories are a hard build, you need very high end clean rooms, and a lot of other high tech machines, machines that require chips, can you see the problem?). By the time the factory is built supply is once again breaking even.
Plenty of chunks of business are still dealing with the chip shortage. Car manufacturers have the problem that they use low end low profit chips. If you’re manufacturer and you know you can’t meet all your demand who are you going to favor? The guys who pay you $100 per unit or $10? That math is easy.
