For me it’s the DH. Gave up on it. Pay big money for a ticket? Not me.
They’re entitled to their business decisions.
How about a group mocking Mohammed, you sissies?!
“Pay big money for a ticket? “
I took my son to a San Francisco Giants ball game a month ago.
$300 for a pair of decent seats close to the field on the third baseline.
$36 for ON-STREET parking. The “smart meters” jack rates up during special events. The nearby parking lots were $40-$50.
$75 for lunch at a decent restaurant.
$18 for one soft drink and a bottle of water. No beer, no food.
$25 for gasoline for driving to and from San Francisco.
$454 for ONE BASEBALL GAME!
That’s why I go to one game every ten years or so. It is utterly obscene. I live in the past and was expecting maybe a $250 day.
We used to really enjoy seeing the San Jose Giants farm club. Nice old-school venue, cheap tickets, good baseball, reasonably priced food, and closer to home. I wonder what their prices are now.
“For me it’s the DH.”
Pennant races were exciting even though only one team in each league got into the post season. Pitchers had to bat and there could be payback for hitting batters and brushbacks. Players tended (or were forced to) stay with one team for much of their careers. Lineups stayed pretty much the same for years on end.
Even counting for inflation, games were easily affordable enough for middle-class families to take in several games a year without taking out a loan.
And teams didn’t feel the need to pander to perverts. It was better back in the day.
