So are 22 other States. So what are they there to do? Watch people walk through the gates?
I personally think Abbot is playing political games and always has. He’s had the resources since day one to secure the Texas border. There are tens of thousands of Texas citizens that are just waiting to defend their state. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Have them hand out pooper scoopers to each illegal invader and have them scoop up their crap and take it back over to the Mehican side. The Rio Grande looks like the sidewalks of San Francisco.
Just a gesture of support for the people of Texas. The Feds have control of U.S. borders. People on here talking about Abbott defending the border or controlling the border are not dealing with reality. Texas doesn’t have authority over the border with Mexico, nor does NM, AZ, CA.
Stolen elections have consequences. Again.
This would be fruitful, if the National Guard troops were used in the manner they SHOULD be, which is in controlling entry, and not put to work “processing” the flood of immigrants that would be let in anyway, regardless of the lack of any vetting.
I’m not sure if it was DeSantis who had the idea or someone else, but allowing states to deport illegals would be an enormous boost. Illegals would migrate into blue states for protection and force them to bear the majority of the burden.
“There are tens of thousands of Texas citizens that are just waiting to defend their state.”
Even as a child watching “Batman” on TV, I understood that no government official would call on someone who does not report to him for help. The public would instantly know the official was incompetent and demand a replacement. If a governor was to send untrained and unsupervised citizens to do some job. It would cause a million lawsuits as, imagine what, say, a bunch of bikers might do to someone crossing the border.
As for the governor of Texas sending the national guard, they most likely are not trained for civilian arrests. As I understand it DeSantis is also sending 300 law enforcement officers. I’m guessing they will perform arrests and the guard are there for security as some of those arrestees will be carrying machine guns. I’m presuming the governors are all communicating and coordinating. But the problem arises, what to do with detainees. They must be clothed, fed and medicated. This will run into the millions of dollars in just a month. Also, that’s a lot of men who are not at home working or caring for their families. Not sure where this is headed as the federal government has jurisdiction and if the feds simply let the arrestees go, what’s the purpose?
Are they armed with real weapons or spit balls?

“Texas doesn’t have authority over the border with Mexico, nor does NM, AZ, CA.”
Texas and all the states have the authority to stop an invasion, as per the Constitution.
And why do you worry about authority? Biden does not have the authority to do what he is allowing at the border.
The lack of authority does not bother the democrats. It is only the squeamsh Republicans who choose to honor the unconstitutional rule of illegal authority even if it takes the fools over the cliff.
The purpose of men not watching over their walking & breathing sperm deposits is “total chaos”.
Jose’ can you see......
Your long post with the questions reveals the root of the problem — lack of will to save the nation.
Americans have always had the will to do what needs to be done, until now.
They are there to process paperwork so illegals can quickly and efficiently enter the country.
Wondering when Trump will send a nasty tweet about this action thereby supporting the influx of illegals into our country.
That is exactly what I thought. Theyare not there to seal the border. They are there to be nannies for illegals.
